Race 1 – Manapouri
Keen that this 4yo gelding makes a winning start to his career. He has turned in a number of strong jump-outs across a couple of preparations, showing good talent in each. He has shown an ability to push forward and from a middle pin today I’d expect to see him up in the early firing line. The $3+ on offer on race morning appeals, think he starts south of $2.50.
Race 2 – Knucklehead
This isn’t a strong race and think Knucklehead can run well at double figures. A son of Puissance De Lune, he is going to get better over further but the 1400m is a lovely kick-off point. He has been strong at the end of a couple of jump-outs now, showing an ability to quicken and a degree of talent that will see him most competitive here. From gate three, he needn’t get too far back and with luck in running should be right in the finish.
