Could Magic Millions live up to its name from the very first lot on Tuesday?
Gerry Harvey certainly hopes so.
But with some justification for the Magic Millions owner, who will nervously watch one of his own go through the sales to kick off the week’s bidding.
Baramul Stud present a Snitzel filly from the prized John Singleton family of Joie Denise, which is filled with stars like More Joyous and Tuesday Joy.
The filly is out of Yesterday, which Harvey bought from Singleton.
“I have the first and last lots this year, it is something you really don’t want to do,” Harvey said. “You want to be somewhere in the middle.”
“But I have had a good look at that filly and she has to be one of the better ones in the sale.”
“She is fantastic and you just can’t get a pedigree like hers.”
“I bought the mare when Singo sold a few. You want to buy the best family and horses and [Yesterjoy] fitted that.”
“She has produced a wonderful Snitzel filly that is going to sell well.”
“Someone is going to buy her and it could be Singo, he’s unpredictable enough to do that.”
Harvey has been a late believer in Snitzel and Not A Single Doubt after not getting quality horses to start with.
“I went to both of them in first couple of years, and I got shit horses and I wiped them,” Harvey said. “I was wrong because I eventually sold a Not A Single Doubt for more than $1 million and Snitzel has been a great stallion.”
“I think I’m getting better horse from Snitzel now than I did in the beginning and hopefully it shows in the ring.”
