Summary of Best Bets:
Best Bet: Race Race 2 No.5 Written In Wrath
Next Best: Race: Race 6 No.10 Miss Fleetwood
Best Value: Race 4 No.4 Fabres
Race 1:
Tricky race to kick off proceedings.
(6) Perfect Force did a nice job on debut, opening up a solid margin back to third, though the overall rating was only fair. The rise to 1000m looks ideal.
(9) Scintillation takes on older horses on debut but has impressed in back-to-back eye-catching trials and maps beautifully.
(3) Woodrow has been gelded into this prep, trialled solidly and should find leaders back from gate one.
(7) Tigletta draws wide and will need luck from the draw but is in the mix.
Selections:
(6) Perfect Force
(9) Scintillation
(3) Woodrow
(7) Tigletta
Suggested Bet: No bet.
Race 2:
Field of 11 down to 4 with scratchings.
Keen to side with (5) Written In Wrath, who has impressed with strong front-running trials for the Waterhouse and Bott stable. The smaller field helps offset the wide draw.
(1) Declan didn’t have much room in the straight on debut and looks far better placed second up rising to 1100m.
The Godolphin runner, (6) Sphere rounds out the number, has fitness but needs to lift.
Selections:
(5) Written In Wrath
(1) Declan
(6) Sphere
Suggested Bet: Win (5) Written In Wrath
Race 3:
Midway Maiden.
(4) Ness goes firmly on top after showing good talent in all four official trials for the Les Bridge stable. The draw isn’t ideal but he has shown tactical versatility in recent hit-outs.
(2) Soho is the main danger after a sharp first trial followed by a quieter second, with the good draw a big plus.
(5) Three Wishes strips fitter second-up and brings key race fitness.
(8) The Netball Queen is next best.
Selections:
(4) Ness
(2) Soho
(5) Three Wishes
(8) The Netball Queen
Suggested Bet: Win (4) Ness
Race 4:
(4) Fabres draws wide but can offset that with a positive ride. Loved the latest trial when trucking up strongly under a hold and the booking of Lloyd is the cherry on top.
(3) Eynesbury was unlucky fresh and while back to 1200m is a slight query, the 3kg claim of Grima is a positive.
(11) Vision In A Dream draws well and comes off eye-catching trials, with 1200m fresh the only knock.
(8) Kitesurfing is next best.
Selections:
(4) Fabres
(3) Eynesbury
(11) Vision In A Dream
(8) Kitesurfing
Suggested Bet: EW (4) Fabres
Race 5:
(1) Castagnola looks one of the better bets of the program after a smart last-start win and should improve again stepping up in trip. The obvious knock is the 60.5kg.
(3) Hush Hush has been heavily backed early and comes off a strong win, drawing nicely.
(4) I Am Wild and (5) Valiant Bomb both bring race fitness but need improvement, with I Am Wild appearing to have more upside of the pair.
Selections:
(1) Castagnola
(3) Hush Hush
(4) I Am Wild
(5) Valiant Bomb
Suggested Bet: No bet.
Race 6:
Strong race.
From a map perspective, (10) Miss Fleetwood looks to get the perfect run, likely leader’s back. She has trialled like a rocket and appears to have returned a better horse. On top.
(4) Harry’s Evidence dominated a plain field first-up but still had plenty in reserve and should push forward fitter second-up.
(1) Aligned strips fitter second-up and has been specked early.
Selections:
(10) Miss Fleetwood
(4) Harry’s Evidence
(1) Aligned
Suggested Bet: Win (10) Miss Fleetwood
Race 7:
A slightly tricky way to end the program.
(8) Dietrich has upside attacking this third-up off a strong last-start win, with the 1.5kg claim used well.
(7) Wisnierska is the fresh market watch and the Gibbons and Lees combination must be respected off solid trials.
(10) Shoutaboutit has had a smart tick-over trial after placing fresh over 1000m and strips fitter.
(3) Bondasong is next best after a last-start failure.
Selections:
(8) Dietrich
(7) Wisnierska
(10) Shoutaboutit
(3) Bondasong
Suggested Bet: No bet.
