Cranbourne Jump-Outs: Big Names Return, But Who Truly Fired?

Pride Of Jenni, Jimmysstar and Legacy Bound headlined a stacked morning at Cranbourne, but which stars were ready to fire and which may need another hit-out?

A huge set of jump-outs at Cranbourne on Monday, headlined by stars like Pride Of Jenni, Jimmysstar and Legacy Bound.

Here’s a look back at the key performances, plus the blackbookers worth noting.

Heat 1 – Won by Pride Of Jenni

Comment from her previous jump-out:

“Pride Of Jenni was given a very quiet trial. Assume she will have a more solid hit-out before resuming.”

She bounded straight to the front in Monday’s jump-out, leading by 3-4L approaching the straight before being throttled down late. It was vastly different to her final piece of work last campaign when she skipped clear and won by 6-7L, but it was hard to knock what she produced here.

Four-time Group 1 winner PRIDE OF JENNI cruised to a comfortable win in this morning’s opening @KarakaChat jumpout at Southside Cranbourne. 👀

Philia was solid in second and has race fitness on her side.

Vivy Air was excellent in third. She has only had a short let-up since the Northerly Stakes in WA and looks likely to come to hand quickly this preparation.

Heat 3 – Won by Jimmysstar

They did not break any records in this heat. Jimmysstar covered ground around the home bend and was held together right to the line, winning nicely. He did everything you would expect from a high-class sprinter, but no more.

Heat 4 – Won by Legacy Bound

Of the headline acts, Legacy Bound was the standout. He was slick on the clock while appearing to be in first gear. I love the way this three-year-old colt has returned.

Not sure where they head first-up, but wherever he lands he is going to be awfully hard to beat.

She’s My Ex and Regeneration are both very good trial horses and each went well.

Blackbook: Legacy Bound

Heat 6 – Won by Lagunanini

Lagunanini is a two-year-old filly who has now jumped out nicely twice this campaign. She musters speed early and has not been let off the chain in either effort. She can run well on debut.

The horse to follow, though, is Sanctuary, who was strong late in third. She too is a two-year-old filly, and both of her jump-outs this preparation have been excellent. She settled on speed in a short-course hit-out on February 9 and then came from off speed here. I like the versatility.

Blackbook: Sanctuary

Heat 9 – Won by Undisputable

I liked the way Undisputable went forward and controlled things on speed. He has shown good talent in four starts to date and looks set to run well fresh off this piece of work.

The horse I want to keep an eye on is Radical Dude, who worked to the line well in second. He has had a number of jump-outs across multiple campaigns, so hopefully this is the preparation he makes it to the races. He may need one more jump-out, as this was his first of the campaign.

Blackbook: Radical Dude

Heat 13 – Won by Bonus Season

I liked the work of this three-year-old filly from the Grahame Begg stable. She has had two Maiden starts and performed fairly in each.

However, her two jump-outs this campaign suggest she has taken a step forward. A maiden win looks just around the corner.

Blackbook: Bonus Season
