Lindsay Park believes their two Mornington Cup runners are ready to peak despite overcoming different hurdles to be ready for race day.
The stable will send out last year’s winner Bankers Choice as well as Plymouth.
Will Hayes said that Bankers Choice had a course gallop earlier in the week after a mid-field finish in the Easter Cup at Caulfield.
‘’He’s in really good order,’’ Hayes told racing.com.
‘’I thought his couple of runs this preparation have been full of merit carrying a lot of weight. He went for a proper gallop at mornings in yesterday, and he’s pulled up in terrific order.’’
Stablemate Plymouth comes into the race with mixed form. The 4 year-old gelding finished second in a listed race at Albury before a disappointing showing in the Easter Cup at Caulfield, where he finished 12th.
‘’We got shuffled back a lot further than we thought we would from a tactical good gate,’’ Hayes said of the Easter Cup defeat, where Bankers Choice finished eighth.
‘’And as a result, the race sort of got away from him. And Banker’s Choice, we were quite happy with his Easter Cup run, considering how much weight he had.
‘’But both of them have come through the races in good order, and we’re quite confident heading towards morning’s meeting.’’
Hayes said the stable still have high hopes for Plymouth.
‘’He’s a very good horse. I thought his run at Albury was very, very good,’’ he said.
‘’And if you go back to last spring, He really put the writing on the wall that it was after winning the Benalla Cup and running very well in Herbert Power.
‘’He earned the spot for cup, so he’s certainly a very talented horse and he’s a good stayer.’’
The winner of the Mornington Cup receives direct entry into the Caulfield Cup.
