Antino has been retired.
The two time Group 1 winner has run his last race after pulling up with an injury post his fourth place finish at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The 7-year-old gelding earned more than $3.4 million in prize money throughout his 33 race career.
”Following his run in the Brisbane Handicap at Eagle Farm on Saturday, Antino was found to have heat and swelling in his right fore tendon on Sunday,” trainer Tony Gollan announced on Monday.
”Further veterinary examinations this morning confirmed Antino sustained an injury to that tendon during the race.
”After consultation with his ownership group, the decision was made to retire Antino from racing.
”Antino retires as a winner of 13 races from 33 starts including the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (2024) & Group 1 Doomben Cup (2025) as career highlights. He is also a winner of consecutive Queensland Horse of the Year titles (2024 & 2025).
”It is with tremendous sadness we have had to make this decision given the thrills and excitement he has provided the racing industry from fans to our staff and owners.
”I wish to thank Jeetu Ramchandani and the ownership group for the opportunity to train Antino and my wider team who have contributed to his training and preparation since the gelding joined our stable in 2022.
”Antino will enjoy a well-deserved retirement after his rehabilitation from injury.”
