Ethan Brown (Jimmysstar): “It was a typically good run, he just found it difficult on this track with his racing style. But out in trip will suit, he hit the line well and I was happy with how he felt.
Ryan Maloney (Another Wil): “I thought he ran really well. First-up in a Group 1 after a long lay-off, it was a pretty good effort, especially on a testing track. His fitness gave out a little and he gave a good blow after the race, so it was a good stepping stone to the Stradbroke.”
Ben Thompson (Uncommon James): “It was a great run. He didn’t have a lot of luck but he travelled sweet and gave a good kick.”
Cejay Graham (Reserve Bank): “He got a lot of pressure and buffering around in the early stages of the race. He didn’t like those circumstances at all.”
Tommy Berry (Private Harry): ““He’s just not comfortable on that ground. It’s quite chopped up now and his form is better on soft ground, whereas the track is probably now racing more like a Heavy 8.”
Mark Zahra (Warnie): “He found himself in a nice spot but struggled to finish off the race today.”
Daniel Moor (Zarastro): “He bounced well and jumped nicely but you probably need to see him on firmer ground to be at his best.”
Kyle Wilson-Taylor (Payline): “He ran well. We got a lovely run in the race, we just needed a bit more pressure up front. Most horses in the race just maintained their position, but he’s run well and I think he’s going to win one of these.”
Zac Purton (Grafterburners): “He was disappointing, he was probably the first horse beaten after the turn.”
John Allen (Skybird): “I thought she went as well as she could from where she found herself in the run. If we’d got to the outside a little earlier, maybe we would’ve run fourth or fifth.”
Taylor Marshall (Spicy Martini): “It was a phenomenal run. The map looked terrific and we got a beautiful trail. She’s up to this Group 1 level, I think it’s only a matter of time before she can win one.”
Tim Clark (Beadman): “I thought he acquitted himself really well at his first go at weight-for-age. Through the middle stages when the pace came out it probably didn’t suit him, but he still ran well.”
James McDonald (Napoleonic): “He ran outstanding. He’s an outstanding colt and he’s still learning his craft as a three-year-old. He showed he belongs in this company and he’ll be a force to be reckoned with next season.”
Mark Du Plessis (Esjay): “It was a super run. It was a tough race and it was a pity about the draw, because if he’d drawn softer I think he would have run in the top five.”
