Summary of Best Bets:

Race 5 (8) Sarah’s Sonnets

Race 8 (8) Land Bank e/w

Turf Talk:

  • Just your standard midweek meeting with the rail out 9.5m
  • I never like a rail that far out and on a tight track like this, you’d think it plays to the front.
  • Gates super important from the 1110m and 1200m starts.

Stats that matter:

  • Jace McMurray has 9 winners from last 50 rides and ROI +30.6%
  • Jack Bruce has 14 winners from his last 50 starters and ROI +9.7%

Race 1:

Pretty hard to make a case for any of these.

The obvious looks (6) Highland Kitty, even though she is a 9 start maiden. Was all around the money last prep without winning. Strong through the line fresh over 1350m and up in trip will suit her more than others.

(7) Urban Princess is a huge chance off the last two runs that have been more than good enough. Good late splits all the time, just a 10 start maiden that always seems to find one better.

If (4) Wild Bean could reproduce the run two back at EF he’d win. Was last, got to the outside and ran best L600m and 400m of the race. Comes out last start and was horrible though.

Selections:

(6) Highland Kitty

(7) Urban Princess

(4) Wild Bean

(1) Kalamia King

Suggested Bet: (6) Highland Kitty

Race 2:

(3) Greave Road was very good on debut but last start was beaten out of sight at $2.80. Hard to know what to make of that effort. Maybe watch the market for support.

(8) Raging Raider went through the gears on the b ig track two starts ago and was solid. Beaten fair and square last start but it was a far better race than this and drop in grade can be the key here.

(2) Dragon Magic was wide and probably worst part of the track last start. Can be a little forgiving. Race drops away after these.

Selections:

(8) Raging Raider

(3) Greave Road

(2) Dragon Magic

(6) Ted Lasso

Suggested Bet: (8) Raging Raider

Race 3:

Had to love the last start effort from (1) Moscow Mule. The debut run was a pass mark but beaten a fair way. Last start he got caught behind slow horses on the corner and it cost him the race. May be after further now but still good enough to win.

I don’t think (2) Kuia Ma is the strongest type but the rail out will suit it. Can be on speed for a long way and will look the winner st some stage.

Best option for (4) Had It All is to lead at all costs. Just seems a better horse when alone up front.

(8) Edge Of Infinity might be next best in a race that lacks chances.

Selections:

(1).Moscow Mule

(2) Kuia Ma

(4) had It All

(8) Edge Of Infinity

Suggested Bet: (1) Moscow Mule

Race 4:

Back to 1600m should suit (2) Carnegie Hill. Has the ability to camp on the leaders backs and this is his pet trip. Goos apprentice on top and gets every chance.

Even though (1) Flying Bat can mix form horribly, he can get sent to the front ad roll along how he races best. Could give a sight if it’s a biased track to the front.

(3) Rosso Levanto has put in a couple of shockers amongst some good runs. Winner last time out and to this trip shouldn’t be a problem. Inside draw a bonus too.

I don’ trust the others but watch the market with all the Waller runners (4) Empire Of Art, (7) Mosamour, (8) Wounder.

Selections:

(2) Carnegie Hill

(3) Rosso Levante

(1) Flying Bat

(4) Empire Of Art

Suggested Bet: No

Race 5:

(8) Sarah’s Sonnet might have only won a plain race at the coast, but gee it was impressive. Cruised up to them like she’d just joined in at the 400m and won easily. That was only 3rd up so can improve again. Du Plessis is a great jock but I’d have stuck with Larson who knows her well and rode her a treat last start.

(2) Diamond Show has been excellent and in career best form. This is probably easier than recent runs and has just 53kg after the claim this time around.

(1) Amplify is impossible to catch but was good in town last start and Thompson rides.

(7) Cast Party might be the next best, doesn’t win often but worth thoughts in exotics.

Selections:

(8) Sarah’s Sonnet

(2) Diamond Show

(1) Amplify

(7) Cast Party

Suggested Bet: (8) Sarah’s Sonnet

Race 6:

Lots of queries on these.

(7) Yes Donald Yes was good in the bush his first couple and then beaten a long way in town at $4.80 before a spell. No official trial so the money trail is all we have to go off.

(9) Zalique just won a low maiden at Grafton over their carnival but the stable seem to have an opinion and might be a horse on the way up. Good gate, good jock and good chance.

(4) City Gold Field is no star but he did win at his first run for the new stable and will be on speed on a track where that should be an advantage.

(3) Abraham and (2) Teelg both come off horrible efforts but could bounce back sharply without surprising.

Selections:

(9) Zalique

(3) Abraham

(4) City Gold Field

(7) Yes Donald Yes

Suggested Bet: Win (9) Zalique

Race 7:

Gollan has everyone up here covered but he just keeps getting sent good horses from down south that he just improves. (8) Mythology comes to him from Freedman and has trialled ok. Thompson rides. He also gets (1) Strada Verenna from Baker. This horse has talent and trialled very well. Does get back in races sometimes and gate not ideal.

(5) Capital Chord looked like a star on debut but ran last next start and then tipped out. Hard to have winning off recent trial but watch the market with this stable.

Step up for (12) Mandriana but I have liked both runs a lot. Just looks to find when under pressure and has more wins in store. Gate does look a bit sticky.

(16) Geitz some hope if it gets a run. Has a good finish on it’s day.

Selections:

(12) Madriana

(8) Mythology

(1) Strada Verenna

(16) Geitz

(5) Capital Chord

Suggested Bet: No

Race 8:

(13) Flaxlands got the cash for us as a best bet last time out. Got the perfect run and won ok, but wasn’t exactly breath-taking. All you can do is beat what they put you up against though.

(8) Land Bank was a pass mark fresh and is a winner 2nd up. From the good gate with Thompson on top, I expect him to be a sharp improver and the one they have to beat.

Not sold on (6) Artful Persuasion but fitter now, not beaten far last start and good apprentice on.

(4) Shelstein will have support, he always does. Personally I’m sick of losing on him so if he wins, it will be without me.

Selections:

(8) Land Bank

(13) Flaxlands

(6) Artful Persuasion

(4) Shelstein

Suggested Bets: (8) Land Bank
