Race 1 – 1:25PM RANVET HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
3YO Handicap over 1100m to start the day. RNSW map has LA FOLLE and BLESSED EAGLE as the two on speed horses. Even tempo expected.
Not a bad race to start off, but not sure there are any world beaters engaged. Hope we’re wrong. 6 horses on debut and another couple first-up. A few have trialled well.
#1 BLESSED EAGLE showed speed and went well, winning his Randwick trial over 1045m leading in. He has seen this track in a trial previously and does look ready to go on debut. He’ll put himself in the race and be highly competitive. Tim Clark sticks.
#7 PROFITABELLE has shown ability and has moved well in her two trials. Forget her last run and she commands respect. She is a clear winning chance but she does look short enough here, particularly from a tricky gate.
The value in the race looks to be #9 DARN YOU. Have liked the way this filly has trialled leading in, finding the line smarty on both occasions this time in. Sam Clipperton knows her well and she looks ready to go. The daughter of Too Darn Hot moves well and suspect she is over the odds here. Happy to spec each way.
Suggested Bet:
#9 DARN YOU (Small EW) – $12 and $3pl
#1 BLESSED EAGLE (Small WIN) – $4.60
Race 2 – 2:00PM INGLIS XTRA BONUS HANDICAP (1300 METRES)
Massive field but no doubt there will be a few come out. Will be good pressure out in front with 8,9,14,16 and 20 if they’re here.
#14 SATIN SERENADE has again trialled well, as she did prior to her debut. She went into that Canterbury race as a well fancied favourite, eventually running second. Like the fact she was put away since then and she comes here with McDonald on and two nice trials. She is a well bred daughter of Frankel and looks a nice horse. Drawn well and the horse to beat. Do we want to dive in at the odds on however? No is the answer.
