Dean Watling has gone hunting early in the all-in markets for Rosehill this Saturday and has found two bets he’s keen to play.
One is near the top of the market and profiles as a strong winning chance, while the other is at monster odds and shapes as one of the more appealing each-way plays of the spring.
G2 Gloaming Stakes – 1800m
Stormy Marco – $3.50 @ TAB
Love the second-up setup here for the Chris Waller-trained Stormy Marco. He was a late bloomer in the Autumn and was outstanding first-up in the Ming Dynasty over 1400m when giving away 4-6kg to his rivals. He meets those same rivals here back at Set Weights conditions.
Third-up and, importantly, goes to 1800m now. He stayed at 1400m second-up and was flat-footed in an extremely fast-run Golden Rose.
This looks a sharp drop in class and I expect him to improve sharply.
G2 The Nivison Stakes – 1400m
Oui Oui Oui – $71/$18.50 @ TAB
The best each-way all-in play I have seen all Spring.
Trained by Jason Attard, this mare is underrated more often than not in the market. She is an easy horse to get a guide on – when she trials well, she goes like a rocket fresh. She could not have trialled any better leading into this first-up assignment.
Dynamic first trial before she trialled better than Caballus in her second hit-out. 1400m fresh is ideal and she looks exceptional value at $71/$18.50 a place.
