Only a few have the talent of Autumn Glow, but fewer have the attitude to match it, according to the World’s Best jockey, James McDonald.
Autumn Glow takes the place of best supporting actress on Everest Day at Randwick as she looks to add the King Charles III Stakes to her haul of 13 wins from 14 starts.
“She’s the best horse in the country,” McDonald said. “I don’t have to worry about her because she just has it.
“She’s just so easy to do anything with. She’s adaptable, and it doesn’t matter what they do in the race, she is going to be there [in the finish].”
McDonald puts Autumn Glow alongside Romantic Warrior and Anamoe as champions that just give you confidence.
“It is the difference between very good and great and elite,” McDonald said. “Romantic had it, Anamoe had it and Autumn Glow has it.
“You look at other very good horses but you know it is going to be hard work, with those three, they work with you, and all had unbelievable ability.
“That is an awesome mix.
“You just get so confident when you get on them because it is going to be fun.
”You know you can go and show them off.”
Autumn Glow rode the good speed to win the Winx Stakes in the fastest time in history first-up, then controlled the sit-sprint 7 Stakes for another easy win last month.
“That sums her up, she can adapt to anything, and she is getting better,” McDonald said. “Remember, third-up in autumn, she was awesome in the George Ryder Stakes, which is maybe her best performance.
“But I think she will go better than that some time in the future, she is getting better.
“That makes her even more exciting.”
