There’s a little extra incentive to play the exotics on Cox Plate Day, with TAB announcing it will scrap its usual commission on winning Exacta bets across Saturday’s Group 1 races for the remainder of the Spring Carnival.

Under its new One Pool Xtra promotion, TAB says approximately 20% more of the Exacta pool will be returned to winning punters. That’s a significant boost to the potential dividend and, in a race as open as Saturday’s Cox Plate, an opportunity worth exploring.
An Exacta requires punters to select the first two horses across the line in the correct order. With so many genuine winning chances in this year’s Cox Plate, there’s a strong argument for taking a few combinations rather than simply backing one runner to win.
With that in mind, we’ve put together some additional Cox Plate tips and suggested Exacta combinations to try to capitalise on TAB’s zero-commission offer.

This is a tough Cox Plate! Made tougher by forecast rain that may or may not hit. Think there's a couple of roughies that can run well while the 3yo's are right in the game.

One of the more open Cox plates I can remember.
I am amazed more people aren’t talking about (6) Birdman. He been beating the Caulfield Cup winner and not far off Sheza Alibi last start. He and (10) Aeliana are the two I am having for first and throwing in (5) Cosmic Crusader and the three year olds for 2nd (11) Warwoven and (12) Blind Raise.
