Group 1 winning jockey Harry Coffey is in serious doubt to take his ride on fancied Melbourne Cup runner Shockletz.
Coffey fell in the Group 1 Empire Rose on Saturday at Flemington when riding Pondalowie.
The Victorian Jockeys’ Association later confirmed that Coffey had suffered a suspected fractured collarbone, and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for scans.
Pondalowie was checked by Racing Victoria vets but cleared of any injuries.
Coffey was booked to ride the Ciaron Maher trained Shockletz, who was rated an $11 chance in the Melbourne Cup.
If he cannot fulfil the ride, Maher faces a tough task finding a rider who can ride the 51kg weight alloted to the mare.
