Avoca Race 2 No.1 Lakes Entrance
This race looks lacking in speed and suspect the debutant, Lakes Entrance, can put himself right there. He has run the gates well in several of his jump-outs and draws soft for Ryan Houtson. Thought his jump-out at Ballarat two back was quite good, the latest at Burrumbeet OK. Being a son of Russian Camelot, the 1200m might be the bottom of his distance range in time, but with a tactical edge on a few rivals he can run a race at a huge price. Liked the trials of Cinnamon Kiss leading into this but she can very much miss the kick. Poets Artistry has also jumped-out quite well, but hasn’t been missed in early markets.

Bendigo Race 5 No.3 Rowdy Anthem
Rowdy Anthem has been racing well with no luck at all. He arguably goes close to winning at Echuca last time out with even luck and it was a similar story at Kilmore prior. Like that a more senior apprentice in Luke Cartwright takes over here, he will need to be on top of this bloke early as he can be tardy away. This is a weak race and with even luck off the pole draw he’s the horse to beat.

Bendigo Race 6 No.8 Rentessis (save Sky Sista)
Was a massive fan of this horse prior to his debut and he couldn’t have been more impressive winning his only start at Wangaratta, spacing his rivals and posting fast time. There were several subsequent winners to come from that race, too. I was a touch concerned about him with his second trial this campaign but his latest bit of work at Wangaratta was first rate. He can bounce right on speed from a soft draw and prove awfully hard to beat. The main danger looks Sky Sista who was held up/good at Sandown first up and can settled leader’s back from gate one.
