Relentless Voyager’s spring campaign has been cut short, with the import sidelined after scans revealed ligament damage.
The Australian Bloodstock-owned stayer had surged into Caulfield Cup contention, firming from $51 into $18 after carrying 61.5kg and storming from last to win a BM100 at The Valley last Saturday under Mark Zahra.
Racing Victoria veterinarians found the gelding lame just 30 minutes after that first Australian victory. Subsequent scans confirmed a check ligament injury, the Ciaron Maher stable reported.
It marks another setback for the Glorious Stakes runner-up from Goodwood last year, who also missed part of last spring after arriving in Australia. He returned to racing in autumn for only three starts before Saturday’s breakthrough win.
