Turf Talk:
- This is the only meeting St Ardaud holds each year
- The track has a long, sweeping home bend.
- I’ll be advantaging horses on speed, but it’s by no means a ‘mad leader’s track’. Horses can make ground with the right run/talent.
Race 5 No.1 Tundra
Doesn’t look a huge amount of speed in this 1200m contest, think (1) Tundra can find the front and control proceedings from (3) Attaboom.
Tundra trialled well at Port Augusta prior to his first-up run at Murtoa where he settled leader’s and good in a race that has since seen third and fifth come out and win. He only had the one trial going into that first-up run so should strip fitter and this looks an easier contest. Blinkers go back on, drawn well, looks over the odds.
Suggested bet: Backing Tundra E/W.
Race 8 No.5 Intimeofneed
This mare is dropping significantly in grade here after sitting three deep without cover first up at Kyneton. She had trialled well prior to that and now gets an inside draw with Meech up. Think Meech will have a look at the early lead before potentially handing up to (1) Hughie. Intimeofneed produced several ratings last campaign that are good enough to be winning a race like this and the way she trialled prior to that first-up run suggests she’s going well.
Suggested bet: Backing Intimeofneed
