| Race | Horse | Summary |
|---|---|---|

| R7 | #7 Untapped – VALUE | Great fresh horse who has some solid runs on the board last prep. Loved his recent trials. |

Turf Talk
- First meeting this season at the Caulfield Heath and with rain across the weekend and early in the week has been no need for irrigation.
- Expecting no disadvantage with the inside lanes of the track given it’s all clean ground and for tempo to be the key to how races are won, not a track pattern or bias.
Race 1
Intriguing start to the day but happy to side against (8) Sketch and think the value lies with (4) Falstaffian. Last start didn’t go to script for Falstaffian, when he was over racing and failed to finish off, in what was a strong race, and think he is much better suited here. Hopefully they let him roll and we can see a more complete performance and if that is the case I feel at the prices he is a much better play than Sketch, who has the right form lines and good jockey aboard in Craig Williams, but does look very tight in the market.
(1) Icaro is much better suited in a smaller field as he shouldn’t be as far back. He ran well last start and is ready to run a bold race.
(7) Racey Casey is in consistent form, but this is harder and she’s a question mark at 1600m.
Selections:
(4) Falstaffian
(8) Sketch
(1) Icaro
(7) Racey Casey
Suggested Bet: Falstaffian (Win).
Race 2
Not a race I was keen on with a few debutantes and lightly raced runners around the 1000m at the Heath course. Landed with (7) Tower Bridge on top, who trialled nicely on this course recently and looks to have above average ability. Like the booking of Craig Williams and thought shouldn’t be too far away from an inside draw here.
(6) Royal Honour was good on debut and must be a player here on that but rating wasn’t overly strong in that run.
(8) Espana will go forward and take catching.
(2) Gram perhaps next best on his form last prep but was just fair fresh and needs to improve on that run.
Selections:
(7) Tower Bridge
(6) Royal Honour
(8) Espana
(2) Gram
Suggested Bet: Happy to watch this one.
Race 3
Liked the win on debut of (8) Cavern at Bendigo when he lead and won. Think he can push forward here again and take natural improvement from that, which would make him hard to hold out.
(3) Close To Midnight has two good ratings here at the course/distance and is another who looks to have come back well.
(7) Imminance is flying and can handle different track conditions.
(4) Furosshi is in good form also, maps to be on speed and is another who will be around the mark here.
Selections:
(8) Cavern
(3) Close To Midnight
(7) Imminance
(4) Furosshi
Suggested Bet: Cavern (Win)
Race 4
Brilliant win (1) Chergui last start at Ballarat when showing too much zip late for his rivals. Think he can improve on that rating in a race with a bit more speed early and feel he maps for a great stalking run here. Deserves to be clear favourite.
(3) Blaze Away was impressive at Moe when beating Hot Sea, if he runs to that level here he must be a contender.
(6) Excenia deserves a win soon and has been consistent at its past two starts. Better suited back to 1100m. .
(4) Chicago Blues was a nice winner on debut and looks like he has some good strength late, expecting he will be doing his best work the last 200m here.
Selections:
(1) Chergui
(3) Blaze Away
(6) Excenia
(4) Chicago Blues
Suggested Bet: Chergui (Win).
Race 5
Big run fresh given the layoff by (11) Jenni Multabella, when she charged home from the back, running the best late splits of the race. She looks well placed here up in trip and from an inside draw can potentially sit further forward.
(9) Chokuto won well at Sale and has good upside, he’ll likely be midfield or worse but does seem enough speed on paper for him to work into the race. Also like him up to 1600m.
(13) Touchdown was a good run on return at Sale when beating average opposition and last start the race got away from him at Ballarat, drawn in here so perhaps can be closer and does seem like he could really elevate on previous ratings now he’s 3rd up.
(4) Fiorenot was super fresh and has to also be in calculations.
Selections:
(11) Jenni Multabella
(9) Chokuto
(13) Touchdown
(4) Fiorenot
Suggested Bet: Jenni Multabella (Win).
Race 6
Open race this and think the horses at the top of the market were well enough found given that. Have sided with (12) Wolfess, who closed off well at Ballarat fresh and looks better suited up in trip from an inside barrier.
Ahead of (4) Macy Moon who is racing well this prep and although that has been at Albury, his ratings are strong enough to compete here.
(8) Oceans Above had a confidence booster at Kilmore and can lift on that; he’d love some pace in this race early to finish off.
(10) Street Lark was a good winner latest and despite a tricky draw, has to be a key chance.
Selections:
(12) Wolfess
(4) Macy Moon
(8) Oceans Above
(10) Street Lark
Suggested Bet: Wolfess (Win), Macy Moon (Win).
Race 7
Really keen to play here as think the favourite (6) Prince Tycoon is well under the odds off a basic fresh run. Best horse here for me on his day is (7) Untapped, he’s trialled very well at Cranbourne leading into this and gets a nice run behind the pace to charge late. Think fresh and 1200m might be the key to this guy. .
(8) Barbaric Lad is flying and like him drawn out to circle the field. Looked like Phar Lap winning one day here.
(9) Express Guard is another trialling well ahead of this and has good form through last start, finishing just behind Derby winner Observer.
(5) Winsome Star brings in a different form line but has jumped out well at this course leading into this.
Selections:
(7) Untapped
(8) Barbaric Lad
(9) Express Guard
(5) Winsome Star
Suggested Bet: Untapped (Win).
Race 8
Good race to finish here. Have selected (8) Wings Of Desire on top after some nice trials for the new stable in G Begg. She’s got Stakes level ability on her day and think the 1200m fresh is ideal here, should be rattling home late.
(3) Terilee may end up the best horse in this race and has shown glimpses of top talent last prep. Trial was good at Moe but worry she could get buried back from an inside draw and need luck.
(11) Ellicazam is airborne and has to be considered a player in this.
(5) Mercurial Lady won well last start and her best is good enough to feature here, albeit the draw makes it tricky.
Selections:
(8) Wings Of Desire
(3) Terilee
(11) Ellicazam
(5) Mercurial Lady
Suggested Bet: Wings Of Desire (Win).
