Summary of Best Bets

Best Bet: Race 1 (5) Lyrics ‘N’ Song

Next Best: Race 2 (5) All Business

Race by race overview

Race 1

There aren’t many better bred. (5) Lyrics ‘N’ Song is by Written Tycoon out of champion mare Melody Belle. She placed in the Twilight Glow before a spell, then resumed at Cranbourne in a race that rated strongly. The stable isn’t one to find, but she looks very well placed and should be closer to even money than 2/1.

(7) Savitri was well beaten at Sandown last start, though the race rated well. As a So You Think, the rise in trip looks ideal.

(2) Loud Charlie bounced back at this track, albeit against moderate opposition.

(4) Light Moved was comfortably beaten at Pakenham last start.

Selections:
(5) Lyrics ‘N’ Song
(7) Savitri
(2) Loud Charlie
(4) Light Moved

Suggested Bet: Lyrics ‘N’ Song (5) – Best Bet

Race 2

(5) All Business will appreciate the rise to 1500 metres after settling too far back over seven furlongs last start. Maps to settle closer and should be favourite by my assessment.

(8) Grand Omaha strides as if ten furlongs and beyond will be her optimal distance in time, and a mile may simply be on the sharp side for her. She can certainly win, and I’d be confident that she will ultimately prove the best horse to come out of this race, but she is vulnerable here.

(1) Delivering won multiple races on the synthetic last preparation. If that form translates to turf, he’s over the odds.

(3) Rock Them Jools was plain last start but can improve quickly.

Selections:
(5) All Business
(8) Grand Omaha
(1) Delivering
(3) Rock Them Jools

Suggested Bet: All Business (5) – Next Best

Race 3

(5) Hotspur Reale comes through the Arlington Row race at Cranbourne, which rated strongly. At the weights, there isn’t enough between him and the favourite to justify the disparity in the market.

(1) Oliveanotherday has a strong profile, but hasn’t produced a rating to warrant being so short. Deserving favourite, but under the odds.

(7) Alzaro closed off well in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes behind Inkaruna and has trialled well.

(6) Immerse has trialled well for a leading stable.

Selections:
(5) Hotspur Reale
(1) Oliveanotherday
(7) Alzaro
(6) Immerse

Race 4

(5) Ten Warriors is yet to win in fourteen starts but has had little luck. He’s in strong form this preparation and can break through.

(9) Santana ran well first up off a long break and will improve. Barrier 9 is the query.

(2) Nar Nar Goon has trialled impressively leading in.

(11) Dama Royale rated well at Pakenham last start.

Selections:
(5) Ten Warriors
(9) Santana
(2) Nar Nar Goon
(11) Dama Royale

Race 5

(4) Georgie Get Mad was given a fortnight to recover from a brutally run race and duly underperformed last start. He can roll forward, control the speed and bounce back, and if he does return to his best, he’ll be in the finish.

(5) Kaazi closed well over seven furlongs first up. May need one more, but is capable at his peak.

(1) Curse It continues to race well this campaign but carries 60kg.

(10) Bayou Music can improve.

Selections:
(4) Georgie Get Mad
(5) Kaazi
(1) Curse It
(10) Bayou Music

Suggested Bet: Small bet Georgie Get Mad (4)

Race 6

(4) Mr Blunt produced strong ratings on the synthetic. If he brings that to turf, he’ll take beating.

(11) Eternal had little luck first up and can improve sharply.

(12) Bohemian Angel ran a peak figure last start and can go on with it.

(3) Commands Success draws wide but was a last-start winner here and must be respected.

Selections:
(4) Mr Blunt
(11) Eternal
(12) Bohemian Angel
(3) Commands Success

Race 7

(12) Mrs Iglesia brings a strong ratings profile and was narrowly beaten by Gentle Steel, who has since won in town. Very well placed.

(6) Rhia should get a soft run and is good enough, with Mark Zahra engaged.

(3) Egerton has previously run to a level that wins this.

(2) Jennyanydots looks ready to peak third up.

Selections:
(12) Mrs Iglesia
(6) Rhia
(3) Egerton
(2) Jennyanydots

Race 8

(9) Regeneration has good early speed and should handle five furlongs. Barrier 9 is far from ideal, but he has Damian Lane to offset that.

(5) Runlikeanencryption is well performed at this level and maps for a soft run.

(1) Martial Music is sharp early and draws ideally in barrier one.

(2) Excess is honest on speed and should land outside the leader from barrier two.

Selections:
(9) Regeneration
(5) Runlikeanencryption
(1) Martial Music
(2) Excess
