Turf Talk
- Kilmore is a unique track with a significant downhill run as they come around the home bend then an uphill straight. Plenty of horses don’t handle it, so ‘Kilmore form’ can be worth noting.
- It’s a momentum track. Those on speed generally have an edge, but provided jockeys get their horse rolling down the hill, they can make ground.
- Track copped 52mm of rain the last 7 days and is a Soft 6. Be careful of the mile chute which is reportedly a Heavy 8…
- The 1200m start is the best on the track, with a good run down the back straight before they start turning.
- The 1400m start is precarious, with runners turning shortly after they jump, so position in running is crucial.
Race 7
Taige Weir has done a great job with (1) No Greater Vue. Won first-up for the stable on a Soft 6 deck at Colac having trialled well leading in. Went to Swan Hill last start and was probably a good thing beaten, settled just in behind the speed and never got a crack at them. Got the 62.5kg, but carried that last time out, so unfazed. Willie Gordon knows the horse well. Drawn ideally. Having him more a $2.60 chance than the $3.60 on offer – think he’s big overs.
(3) Kastun Star is much better than what he showed first-up at Terang. Zac Spain taking over a plus.
(4) Pro Aussie beat No Greater Vue home last time out but had an unimpeded run. Will be up on speed though which is a plus and has a good senior jockey in Dan Stackhouse.
Suggested bet: No Greater Vue WIN
