Race 2: (MAAT 1600m)
Tempo: Average
Market elect (3) YOUNG JACKSON has clear strongest form and ratings for this MAAT contest, came from midfield to finish close-up in an on-speed dominated race at Ellerslie last start, risk is a wide draw with no gates speed and potential for another slowly run race, under the odds for this reason. (11) INCHIGEELAGH LASS found strong support in betting fresh off 45 days, ridden against her usual pattern and didn’t come on. Can improve sharply ridden with intent off the inside draw and stepping up to 1600m, provided the track is no worse than soft she has winning claims and represents value in the market. (14) LOFTY MANUEL is aggressively placed, recent efforts have been excellent and bursting to win a race, another at odds worth a spec.
Suggested Bet: INCHIGEELAGH LASS & LOFTY MANUEL
Race 4: (3YO SW 2100m)
Tempo: Average
(1) GENEVA is an extremely well-placed galloper dropping back in distance from 2400m of the NZ Derby where he enjoyed a perfect run in transit and finished close-up, on the wrong leg up the straight. Switching back left-handed where both wins have come, profiles as the likely leader with preferred soft track conditions. (2) ALOTTAGO is on a 7 day back-up and looks to be thriving.
Suggested Bet: GENEVA
Race 6: (2YO SW 1400)
Tempo: Above Average
Feature race. Sires Produce Stakes. (4) SEIZE THE DAY broke through for an arrogant win when put outside lead at Matamata and Bosson cuddling to the line. The 1400m appeals, visors come off to help settle, drawn out alongside other key speed influences and he can follow them across to land in behind. The market loves this colt, crunched late in each of his two starts and expecting more of the same for his target race. (2) RONALDO is the here and now 2YO, unbeaten and professional. 1400m a test. Stablemates (6) EXCITE and (12) ST MONICA both showing enough to be in the finish.
Suggested Bet: SEIZE THE DAY
Race 9: 3YO SW+P 1200m
Tempo: Above Average
(9) LUCY IN THE SKY was a promising juvenile and disappeared for 253 days, a return to form at Tauranga last start after four runs in riding a genuine tempo in the fast lane and kept giving, only nabbed late. Any further improvement puts her in winning contention again. Two runners impressed at the trials. (5) PLATINUM DIAMOND is building an imposing record, all of it on rain-affected tracks, rain arrived yesterday and should keep it in the soft range and benefits from the expected strong tempo. (7) BONZA SFORZA also appreciates speed on coming out of the chute.
Suggested Bet: LUCY IN THE SKY
