Race 2 – 2:10PM Caledonian Hotel Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)
Loved how #11 COCO DE LUXE has trialled ahead of her debut. She won a synthetic track jump-out at Wangaratta impressively last campaign but didn’t make it to the races. She resumed with another impressive jump-out win on her home track on December 9, settling handy to the speed before cruising away from her rivals under double wraps.
Concede that latest jump-out wasn’t in blistering time, but the way she moves suggests she has above average ability. Jake Duffy knows her well having been on board in both jump-outs to date and she strikes a very winnable race here.
Think the main danger appears to be #5 CARIBBEAN VILLA who has hit the line strongly in both starts. He is likely to again get back here but will be strong late. Do suspect he wants a touch further than 1100m now but could have something small on him at $10.
The market has #9 ZUBBA STORM an odds-on favourite here. Looks very short – happy to bet around him at the price.
Suggested bet:
Backing #11 COCO DE LUXE, small something #5 CARIBBEAN VILLA
