Mr Brightside will miss the remainder of the season after Lindsay Park revealed the 10-time Group 1 winner has sustained a fetlock injury.
In a statement on social media on Wednesday, the stable said their pin-up horse will undergo surgery to remove a bone chip, sidelining him until at least the 2026 spring.
The eight year old won the G1 Makybe Diva Stakes and ran second in two other G1 races during the 2025 spring before finishing out of the placings on a heavy track in the Champions Mile.
“A routine check-up has found that our beloved Mr Brightside has a very small chip in his left-fore fetlock,” the statement said.
“He is sound and his usual happy self but best possible practice for his wellbeing, comfort and long-term soundness is to have minor surgery to remove the chip.”
“Afterwards he will enjoy a lovely, long, VIP holiday at Lindsay Park Euroa.”
“This means he will unfortunately miss the upcoming autumn racing carnival but absolutely all that matters is his wellbeing and we look forward to seeing him back in the spring.”
