Veteran jockey Dean Yendall has revealed he survived a car crash on the way to the races on Saturday – only to return on Sunday to ride a winner.
Yendall revealed, post his win on Russian Choice at Stawell on Sunday, that he had an eventful 24 hours.
“I was heading to the Geelong races, near the Fyans Street and Moorabool Road intersection,” Yendall told broadcaster racing.com on Sunday.
“Some poor lady forgot to give way and we ended up T-boning her. Thankfully, everyone was OK, including her two little ones.”
Yendall received minor injuries but was cleared to ride on Sunday.

He obviously didn’t ride on Saturday despite a local policeman driving him to the races.
And to complete the tale, friend and former MRC chairman John Kanga drove Yendall part of the way home on Saturday, before his wife completed the trip to Horsham.
“I just got home eventually and ticked off that day as an absolute disaster,” Yendall said.
“But lucky, so to speak… and here I am today, punching home winners!”
What a story 🤯
