Race 5 – 3:45PM Langden Construction BM62 Handicap (1000 METRES)
This preview is as much about horses trialling moderately as it is those trialling well.
At the time of writing, #10 LA ROUX is $2.80 favourite coming off a 337 day break. Her jump-outs leading into the campaign have failed to impress. She was under riding and pretty plain in the latest at Pakenham. It also looks like she has had an interrupted campaign having jumped-out in November and December and now resuming 40 days since her latest hitout. Now, she might’ve really come on in those 40 days, but as punters we can only go off the information available, and with those factors considered, she’s way under the odds at $2.80. On form and ability can absolutely win, but happy to take her on at the price.
Think #7 GIN SPIRIT should be favourite. She had two soft track runs in winter and didn’t seem to appreciate the give in the ground. Her firm track form is outstanding and jump-outs leading into this have been really good. You don’t see many Stakes winners – albeit 2yo level – going around at Moe four starts later!
#8 GWAN SO hasn’t made a regular habit of winning. He’s won two from 31, but he has jumped-out nicely and has the benefit of the inside alley, which will see him race on speed.
#1 INNOCENT ENUFF will also push forward and be in this a long way.
Suggested bet:
Backing #7 GIN SPIRIT. Mark her a clear favourite.
