Summary of best bets

Race 3 No.2 Amron Toy
Race 7 No.3 Ascend Ecstatic
Race 8 No.5 Paw Oswald

Race previews

Race 3:

Amron Toy (box two) looks like he’s starting to put it all together, and his 29.31 win at Sandown, which included a fast 5.02 first split, means that he looks incredibly hard to beat in this. His main danger appears to be Group winner Slick Badger (box seven), but there is speed drawn around him and the box draw has made it difficult.

Selections:
(2) Amron Toy
(7) Slick Badger

Race 4:

Slick Felix (box three) is a greyhound that can be hit or miss at boxrise, but if he happens to get things right he is the classiest greyhound in the field and victory would certainly be probable. Upended (box one) raced well in the G1 Futurity in Sydney recently but would still have to prove herself here, and the value certainly lies with Talcott Bale (box seven), who boasts a record of eight podium finishes from nine starts this track and distance.

Selections:
(2) Slick Felix
(7) Talcott Bale
(1) Upended

Race 5:

The box draw and the early speed of Yaya Sally (box one) gives her the nod in this. Her last two wins have been full of merit, and she certainly finds a nice race here to continue her winning ways. The value looks the widest runner Paw Torrie (box eight), who not only has a nice PB over 600 metres, but is also racing in fine form.

Selections:
(1) Yaya Sally
(8) Paw Miller

Race 6:

Amron Dancer (box five) is one of the in-form chasers in Victoria, and her defeat last week came at the hands of a powerhouse finisher in easily the best time of the night. She has been nailing the starts and should be able to offset this draw. She faces some handy ones, including reserve for G1 Gold Bullion Avengement (box three) and Ethanol Secret (box seven), who is racing in career-best form.

Selections:
(5) Amron Dancer
(3) Avengement
(7) Ethanol Secret

Race 7:

Ascend Ecstatic (box three) was huge in defeat last start against a high-quality chaser, and if she can replicate the early speed she showed last week she will take some beating. Foxy Roxy (box seven) should provide the early speed here and looks a nice place option.

Selections:
(3) Ascend Ecstatic
(7) Foxy Roxy (place)

Race 8:

Paw Oswald (box five) missed the start in his defeat last week but you’d expect him to get back to his usual self which usually involves him settling in a very forward position. Despite the draw he looks the top pick. Sharapova Star (box four) is usually a flawless beginner and looks the early leader, while Barefoot Zulu (box eight) is as talented as any in the country on his night.

Selections:
(5) Paw Oswald
(4) Sharapova Star
(8) Barefoot Zulu

Race 9:

Go For Gold (box three) is one of the more experienced Meadows runners in this field and she has enough speed to put herself in a winning position as they race down the back. Blue Labubu (box four) is a hugely talented provincial sprinter but there’s certainly question marks regarding her stamina over this distance.

Selections:
(3) Go For Gold
(5) Bailieston
