Cranbourne Monday September 8

Heat 2 – Kokako (1st)

They ran slick time here and Kokako put her rivals away with consummate ease. It was a marked improvement on her first jump-out this campaign and she looks ready to go back to the races now. Caveat is this mare (and the stable’s horses) always trials well, but she has also performed well on the racetrack being a 63-rater, she can go to a BM64, or even a BM58 with a bit of weight and be hard to beat first up.

Heat 5 – Ludlum (1st)

Grey son of Rich Enuff who has jumped-out well a few times and looks ready to go to the races. He travelled sweetly to the 200m mark before responding to a little squeeze and putting a couple of lengths on Espana (a good jump-out horse). This was his second decent trial this campaign so he’s ready to debut now. Look out for him in a 1000/1100m maiden.

Heat 10 – Nation’s Call (3rd)

Jennilala was given a solid test late to win the heat from Amenable, a class galloper who went nicely. Was taken by the work of Nation’s Call, who jumped-out much better here than he did last campaign. He just cruised to the line under his own steam in third, not beaten far, in a sharp piece of work for a 1600m+ horse. He trialled sharply back in October 24 off a similar let-up and then won over a mile at The Valley first up, think he can similarly run well when resuming off this 8-week let-up.

Heat 15 – Thebelmontgangster (1st)

This bloke has had a couple of false starts since coming from Ireland, having trialled in February and again in May, both times being subsequently given a break. He looks to have found his mojo in Australia this time around, having trialled well on August 25 and again here on Monday. He seems quite sharp for a horse that will likely get over 1600m and I suspect will run a big race fresh.
