Shaun Beirne has been in outstanding form with his deep dives, having nailed both the Geelong Cup and Cox Plate.
Now the Bet Legends analyst turns his attention to Wednesday’s Bendigo Cup, where he’s happy to take on favourite Kings Valley despite two eye-catching performances.
The case against Kings Valley
“It’s hard to miss his runs in the Caulfield Cup and Moonee Valley Cup. I’ve got his Moonee Valley Cup performance as a big new personal best.
“But can he back that up just four days later? This is his seventh run for the preparation and fourth in just 25 days.
“He’s obviously supremely fit and his trainer is a freak, but I’m happy to bet against him reproducing that rating.”
The case for So You Are
While Beirne is keen to oppose the favourite, he believes So You Are has a much stronger platform from which to produce another peak performance.
“So You Are maps perfectly to sit just behind the leaders and has built a very strong bank of ratings winning three on end.
“His steady progression provides a much sounder launching pad to hold his rating than the favourite, who is coming off a big new peak.”
What about the Geelong Cup form?
Beirne also assessed The Euphrates and Litzdeel, who both come through last Wednesday's Geelong Cup.
“They were both comfortably beaten by the three overseas raiders in the Geelong Cup.
“Both were in good form prior to that, but they'll need a big bounce back. I think they're around the right odds.”
