Summary of Best Bets

  • Best Bet: Race 1 – (1) Pure Crown
  • Next Best: Race 3 – (1) Amical
  • Best Value: Race 7 – (6) Steel Tsunami

Turf Talk

  • The track is currently rated a Soft 6 with clear weather forecast leading up to the meeting, so no downgrade is expected.
  • The rail moves in slightly from the previous meeting and will be +8m from the 1200m chute and +6m for the remainder.
  • Murray Bridge is a big, open circuit that generally plays fairly, with winners coming from all positions in running. There is usually a slight advantage to runners who can find cover throughout the race.

Stats That Matter

  • Apprentice Brooke King continues her outstanding form with 12 winners from her past 100 rides, producing a +37.1% POT. She has also returned a healthy +31.1% POT at Murray Bridge.
  • Roslyn Day has enjoyed a terrific winter, training 16 winners from her last 100 runners with a +39.3% POT.

Race 1

(1) Pure Crown ran well on debut when finishing third in a race that looks a touch stronger than what he contests here. In a small field he should settle on speed, which looks ideal, and any natural improvement from that first-up effort should see him very hard to beat.

(5) Glitzy Golden Girl placed on debut before tackling a much stronger race last start where she was outclassed. This is a more suitable assignment and she can bounce back.

(2) Victorium has finished in the back half of the field in his first two starts but drops in grade here and maps well enough to show improvement.

(4) Morlock was well supported in  stronger maiden last start, maps well from barrier 1 and has a light weight after a claim so can be positive in the run

Selections
(1) Pure Crown
(5) Glitzy Golden Girl
(2) Victorium
(4) Morlock

Suggested Bet: (1) Pure Crown – Win

Race 3

(1) Amical won impressively on debut at Gawler before being disqualified, so still technically remains a maiden. He returned from a spell with a solid effort following encouraging trials and looks to have found the right race to break through officially.

(5) Mr Vexatious improved sharply last start and maps to lead, giving him every chance to be prominent throughout.

(2) Dirty Deal makes his debut and looks the pick of the first starters, drawing barrier three for an economical run.

(9) Naughty Jamie is on debut today, sets up well from barrier 1 in the small field and should get a positive run

Selections
(1) Amical
(5) Mr Vexatious
(2) Dirty Deal
(9) Naughty Jamie

Suggested Bet: (1) Amical – Win

Race 7

(6) Steel Tsunami drops sharply in grade after contesting stronger races earlier this preparation. Now third-up and at peak fitness, he gets in well at the weights with the apprentice claim and looks capable of improving significantly.

(9) Xtramagic won a similar race last start, draws barrier two and carries a light weight. If she reproduces that effort she’ll be in the finish again.

(7) Charlesfort was an impressive winner on wet ground last start and drops back to 1100m second-up, a distance where he boasts a strong record.

(5) Rocktagon is another last-start winner who returns to a track and distance where he has already been successful and is capable of going close again.

Selections
(6) Steel Tsunami
(9) Xtramagic
(7) Charlesfort
(5) Rocktagon

Suggested Bet: (6) Steel Tsunami – Each Way
