Champion trainer Peter Moody believes his star mare Sheza Alibi is  ‘’probably ahead of the game’’ following a trial at Pakenham on Tuesday.

The dual Group 1 winner finished second with Luke Nolen onboard behind Ole Dancer.

”She came through it very well. She had a nice gallop. She’s not unaccustomed to soft ground, obviously being trained down here, and she’s done a fair bit of work on it,’’ Moody told racing.com post her run.

‘’She’s actually raced on soft and hasn’t minded it at all. So we’re always hoping that you don’t run into heavy ground, but it was probably a [soft] seven or [heavy] eight.’’

Moody said the improvement in the 4 year-old’s condition were clear to see.

‘’Action was good. She was quite bold through the first part of the trial, probably still a little fresh, and that’ll help her come on a hell of a lot,’’ he said.

‘’But I was really pleased with the way she recovered. She recovered very quickly. By the time she’d got back to us here in the enclosure, she wouldn’t have blown a match out, which was very pleasing.

‘’She had a little blow after that first [trial], and this morning she was much cleaner in the wind and on sort of testing ground, which tells you she’s probably ahead of the game where we need to be at the moment.’’
