NSW MP Mark Latham was escorted from Randwick racecourse by police at the Epsom meeting at Saturday.
The controversial MP had his membership rescinded after an altercation with the now interim CEO Steven McMahon during the Autumn Carnival and was not allowed to be on track.
He was in the Grandview restaurant and police spent several minutes talking to him before he left the course.
”A member who had his membership rescinded was on course and police spoke to him and he left the course,’’ an ATC spokesman told Betsy.
Several people with Latham at the table got up and left as police were talking to him. Witnesses said they looked uncomfortable.
Betsy was told that ATC staff initially approached Latham before police were called.
Latham posted on X on Saturday he was seeking legal advice.
”This is completely false. I’ve never been banned from racecourses by anyone. I went to Rosehill 4 weeks ago as the guest of an ATC member. No problem. This afternoon I went to Kembla Grange. The ATC has never held a hearing or notified me of a racetrack ban. Nothing until today when they called Maroubra Police. This is simply vicious payback for stopping the sale of Rosehill. I have spoken to my lawyers to commence legal proceedings.”
