The superstar of Australian racing, Autumn Glow, has suffered a minor injury following her Group 1 victory at Flemington on Saturday.
The Chris Waller-trained mare won the Champions Mile, but a stewards report revealed she had pulled up lame.
Waller later told stewards that Autumn Glow’s scans reveal ‘’no abnormality’.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the left fore,’’ the stewards’ report said.
‘’A veterinary clearance is required prior to being permitted to race again or officially trial.
‘’Subsequently on return to the stable, trainer Chris Waller reported that x-rays and scans of Autumn Glow revealed no abnormality.
‘’Chris Waller added that Autumn Glow was showing signs of bruising to the left fore hoof.’’
It follows an update on Everest sprinter Tempted that might explain her disappointing effort on Saturday.
The star mare finished out of the placings in the Champions sprint despite starting the $1.70 favourite with TAB.
‘’ A post-race endoscopic examination identified a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horse’s racing performance,’’ the stewards’ report said.
‘’A veterinary clearance is required before the horse is permitted to start in another race or officially trial again.
‘’Trainer Ciaron Maher reported that following the performance he agreed with the assessment of rider C Schofield that the mare may have come to the end of its current preparation and advised that it was now the intention to send the mare for a spell.’’
