Race 2 – 1:30PM Sportsbet Ballarat Cup Dec 5 Book Now Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
One of the key dangers, #11 PRESTIGE HELLBENT has been scr on race morning.
This is an ideal kick-off point for #5 ZIGGY BAMA, who makes his debut for Lindsey Smith. This bloke trialled well last campaign but didn’t make it to the races. He has had two jump-outs this time in and won them both (Racing.com shows him as finishing second at Geelong on August 5, but I’m certain he’s the horse streeting away to win). He has been up on speed in all of his trials and jump-outs, and he should absolutely be able to use gate one to kick up and hold the front, unless #1 OTTALAUS wants to go mad from gate two. In that case case he can get the cold drop on that leader.
His recent trial win up the back straight at Geelong was in fast time for the morning and he left a 78-rated galloper in his wake. I suspect this bloke has races in store than a Ballarat maiden and as such the $3.20 on offer appeals greatly.
#7 HELLO MISTRESS posted a good rating when second this track and trip three back. Has good tactical speed but think camps just off the two leaders on Monday. Will appreciate getting away from the soft 7 last start.
They have backed OTTALAUS both runs this campaign and have left it in the bag. He improved getting to this track and trip last start when narrowly defeated in a similarly weak maiden.
Suggested bet: Keen on #5 ZIGGY BAMA – think he starts south of $2.20.
