Race 2 – 1:45PM Sportsbet Fast Form Plate (1000 METRES)
A couple of debutants hold the key to the race.
#4 INDALO makes her debut for Mick Prince and Michael Kent Jnr and she has trialled up very nicely. Given a soft time on the Pakenham Synthetic when second to Honour The Basset (who won well on debut) back on August 11. She really impressed in her Cranbourne jump-out win last Monday, quickly putting her rivals to the sword late under her own steam. She moves like a nice horse and Jamie Melham has been aboard in both pieces of work, so knows her well. Wears the Ear Muffs pre-race here, so just keep an eye on her parade. Lovely kick-off point – think she can make a winning debut.
I reckon #2 COOL DEEDS can run a race at odds. She has got back in both jump-outs this time around but has displayed good change-up speed. The 1000m course at Sandown should suit her turn-of-foot. $21 looks over the odds.
#9 SMOKY KITCHEN has also trialled up nicely. She has won her two recent Cranbourne jump-outs and done so largely under her own steam. She’s out of a Savabeel mare who excelled at middle-distance trips and I do think this filly will get further than 1000m in time, btu this is a nice starting point.
Suggested bet:
Backing #4 INDALO at $4.40, #2 COOL DEEDS at $21, and taking the 2,4,9 quinella.
