It’s a great day racing in Melbourne as always for Guineas Day.
I have placed a Quaddie at the bottom of the page and have a few tips/two bet plays in those races below.
Caulfield race 8 #5 Blind Raise $3.70
Most people have this as a two-horse race and others have Warwoven over the line. I don’t have a big knock on that horse, but it is first time at Caulfield and at a mile. That recipe has undone good ones before. Blind Raise needed the run 2nd up but still too good. Last start had to work wide early, then attacked before the corner and was a class above. He looks timed to the minute and Shinn looks to have all the faith in the world in the horse. The last 200m of this race should be a spectacle.
Caulfield race 9 #15 Salty Pearl $12 and #13 Changing Colours $8
A couple of good mares on the minimum taking on the boys. Main play would be (15) Salty Pearl and she never gets to carry this weight. Maher’s horses are doing amazing things at the moment and he has her timed to the minute. Has had the two runs back, a soft trial and now to a mile in the handicap with blinkers back on. Last prep when the blinkers went on it was over a mile at Caulfield and she bolted in. Ready to show best. (13) Changing Colours changed stables from Waller to Yeomans and you’d think she is a new horse. Has won four on the trot in easier grade but I just love the way she travels in races. When she gets the right run she has a great turn or foot and she looks a live chance. Has to be a winning result for me.
Caulfield Race 10 #15 Wonder Boy $21/$6
Wide open race to finish the quaddie. The faves Harry’s Yacht and Persian Spirit draw to land midfield and get every chance. Just feel this horse is big odds off being beaten a long margin fresh. Not a suitable race, not much panned out but was still 2nd best L600m of the race. May need one more to strip fitter but feel they will make use of the gate and be 3-4 pairs back with cover. If they happen to run along it would help but I just feel he will run much better than the odds suggests. Might be a roughie for Quaddies and I could also have a win bet (11) Exuto $7
