Jamie Melham will make a last-ditch attempt to ride Satono Glow in the Coolmore Stud Stakes on Victoria Derby Day when she appeals a four-meeting careless-riding suspension from Sydney Stakes next Monday.
Racing legal eagle Matthew Stirling will represent Melham at the Racing NSW Appeal Panel as she seeks at least a one-meeting reduction to be able to ride on the opening day of the Melbourne Cup carnival.
Melham was found guilty of shifting out on Marhoona from behind Charm Stone near the 300m mark when insufficiently clear of Coal Crusher, which resulted in it being crowded onto Generosity and “losing its rightful running”.
John O’Shea and Tom Charlton have Melham’s husband Ben on standby to ride Satono Glow, should the appeal fail.
