Harry Coffey has made an miraculous recovery and will ride Shockletz in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup, just days after fracturing his collarbone.
Coffey fell in the final race on Derby Day, last Saturday, leaving him injured and in serious doubt to take his place in the Cup.
The Group 1 winning rider underwent surgery and declared on Sunday he was confident he would take his place.
The outcome, however, leaves MIchael Dee without a ride.
Dee gave up the ride on Strictly Business to take the likely ride on Shockletz, however with Coffey set to resume, he misses out.
Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards confirm that, having been cleared by his surgeon and assessed by RV Chief Medical Officer Dr Ben Barresi, jockey Harry Coffey has been declared fit to fulfil his riding engagements at Flemington tomorrow (Tuesday, 3 November).
