A handy set of jump-outs at Bendigo on Tuesday, with a few promising types stepping out. An unraced Shamus Award 2YO gelding was arguably the standout from a betting perspective, but there are sure to be multiple future winners to follow.

Rain began to fall from Heat 10 onwards, so keep that in mind when assessing times.

Average time for 800m heats: 51.17 secs
Average time for 1000m heats: 63.15 secs

The Horses To Follow:

Heat Horse Summary
6 Wombat Lightly ridden winner over 1000m. Ready to debut at 1100/1200m.
7 Olatunde First for new stable. Strong work, ready to win.
9 Zamora Responded late, slick time. Needs to convert on raceday.
10 Yuuki Smart short-course type. Slick work despite rain and extra ground.

Heat 6 – Wombat (1st)

Target – 1200m Maiden

Narrow winner under very light riding. Both jump-outs this prep have been excellent. Given this was over 1000m, keen to see Wombat at 1100/1200m on debut.

Heat 7 – Olatunde (1st)

Target – 1100/1200m Maiden

Showed talent previously with Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman. This was his first jump-out for Tim Fitzsimmons, but he’d had two prior this prep with Moody/Coleman. Strong work here and Olatunde looks ready to break through on raceday.

Heat 9 – Zamora (2nd)

Target – Short-course Maiden

Responded well to light urgings over the final furlong. Ran slick time first-up this prep. A word of caution: Zamora has trialled well in the past without delivering on raceday.

Heat 10 – Yuuki (1st)

Target – Short-course Maiden (possibly metro level)

Showed ability before debut and in his only racetrack outing. Produced a slick bit of work here. Take the time with a grain of salt — it was raining and they covered extra ground around the home bend — but Yuuki looks smart.
