These were jump-outs held at Cranbourne on Monday, October 13.

Heat 2 – Gin A Tonic (2nd)

This heat was won by Speir, who did everything you’d expect of him. He’s a fast horse who always impresses in trials. They ran slick time, too.

However, I want to focus on Gin A Tonic, who finished second, and did so under a fairly comfortable Ethan Brown ride. This Queenslander has had two trials down here in Victoria and both have been strong. He has a good fresh record and I’d expect him to be hard to beat in a BM74 or even BM78 first up off his 75 rating.

Heat 4 – Royal Honour (2nd)

The heat was won by Empire Song, who has always trialled well in his short career. He has done so again twice this campaign. He will likely be short odds when he turns up at the races.

Want to follow Royal Honour, a 3yo son of Blue Point, who has worked well in two jump-outs this campaign. He wasn’t asked to do a lot up the straight but held his position to the line. He can find a suitable maiden and be hard to beat on debut.

Heat 7 – Royal Flare (1st)

This bloke has had two trials and looks ready to debut now. He was allowed to balance up early in this heat and was bolting at the top of the straight. He picked off his rivals completely under his own steam in the straight and looked to have plenty more to offer on the line. A 4yo who has clearly taken time, but he will be hard to beat wherever he heads on debut.

Heat 15 – Too Tough (2nd)

Spotted this Cindy Alderson-trained mare in a trial back in March where she impressed but didn’t make it to the races that campaign. This was her second trial this time in and she moved very well in finishing second, going to the line with plenty in hand. Both hit-outs this campaign have been excellent, and I think she can make her presence felt on debut (~1200m).
