Race Horse Comment
1 It’sanotherbattle Makes her debut off some handy trial form
2 Saint Boom Forgivable last start run, can bounce back
6 Falaise Peak level of fitness here today (Value)
7 Mapleway Run down late last start, should be stronger late with a softer run

Turf Talk:

  • Clear conditions are forecast race day and the days leading up. Expecting the track will be rated a Good 4 for the meeting.
  • The rail goes out here and will be +12m 900m – W/Post & +9m remainder.
  • Despite the wide rail position, the track should still play fairly given its size and generally the advantage is with runners who can find cover in run.

The Stats that Matter:

  • The Shane & Cassie Oxlade stable have 4 good chances on the card and are in good form returning a POT of +20.6% in their last 100 runners but also +16.4% at this track alone.
  • Group 1 winning jockey Lauren Stojakovic makes a riding return today having retired in February 2017 and will have 5 rides here with some decent chances.

Race 1

(10) It’sanotherbattle is a runner from of our SA Blackbookers list and makes a keenly awaited debut here today. She was super in a recent trial at Strathalbyn showing a good turn of foot off decent speed, drawn ideally here and looks ready for a strong debut. (9) Artistic Angel has the best exposed form of the runners in this race, she has been close in some good form races this prep and has stake level form from last prep, maps to race prominently. (3) Absinthe resumes for her 2nd prep in work, she didn’t get a lot of luck from wide barriers in her two career runs and looks to get a better run here, a recent trial win suggests good improvement. (1) Bel Ragazzo next, making his debut here as a 4YO, his 4 lead up trials have all looked handy.

Selections:
(10) It’sanotherbattle
(9) Artistic Angel
(3) Absinthe
(1) Bel Ragazzo

Suggested Bet – (10) It’sanotherbattle (Win)

Race 2

(11) Saint Boom is another runner from the SA Blackbook, he produced a bold effort when resuming for a new stable. Missed the kick and was made to work to find a position in run, despite the work he did early he stuck on relatively well for 4th. Fitter 2nd up today and suggest if he jumps away better here, he can be strong late. (13) Alpine Lee didn’t get a lot go her way in the middle of the race at Balaklava which made her run tough, this race appears no harder and she can improve. (3) I Am Ralph wasn’t far away from Saint Boom in their last meeting, so should be around the mark again. (12) Twilight Tango started at big odds on debut and is big odds here again. Maps well and likely races up on speed so she could surprise.

Selections:
(11) Saint Boom
(13) Alpine Lee
(3) I Am Ralph
(12) Twilights Tango

Suggested Bet – Saint Boom (Win)

Race 3

(1) Steel Tsunami didn’t get much luck from a wide barrier when resuming at Gawler, she can be an improver here today given she gets a more favourable race map and will get in 4.5kgs better at the weights. (3) Angel Torque resumes here off the back off a recent trial win, she hasn’t placed in previous 1st up runs but is a winner at this track/distance previously. (8) Miss Sghirripa was a winner two starts ago before going to Morphettville and tackling a stronger race. She was a bit off the winner there, but will be much better suited in this grade and at this track. (7) Kersee resumes for her 2nd prep, she was a winner at this track as a short price favourite earlier this year, looks to have the talent to threaten.

Selections:
(1) Steel Tsunami
(3) Angel Torque
(8) Miss Sghirripa
(7) Kersee

Suggested Bet – No bet, tough enough race to split the top few chances so staying out.

Race 4

(4) Easy Beast & (2) Think Tank ran 1 & 2 in a recent race at Halidon with Think Tank getting the win, but is giving Easy Beast the best chance of turning the tables in this race. She will drop 3.5kgs and get an overall 4.5kg swing on Think Tank, which could be a huge help late as she likely maps to go forwards and has a good record at this 2000m trip. They look the two main chances in the race. (5) Empress Of Soul next, she was a good winner in a similar race two starts ago and comes out of some decent form races for this level. (7) The Tank ran into the placings in a much stronger race than this, he looks much better suited dropping back to this grade today.

Selections:
(4) Easy Beast
(2) Think Tank
(5) Empress Of Soul
(7) The Tank

Suggested Bet – No bet, hard to have confidence in these mid week staying races as they feel like they all take turns to win.

Race 5

(9) Shalhavmusik is still a maiden, but was very close to the winner last time at Morphettville. That’s a form race that could be franked earlier in this program today. She draws well here and should get the right run in a race that doesn’t appear too hard. (1) Belle Inferno maps as the likely leader of this race, her recent form hasn’t been outstanding, but if she can get along out in front with a soft run she could prove hard to catch. (11) She Sparkles went back and hit the line strongly last start at Balaklava, she should be suited better at this bigger track today. (5) Flying Yank didn’t show a lot when resuming, but a rise in trip and getting onto this bigger track could bring improvement out of him.

Selections:
(9) Shalhavmusik
(1) Belle Inferno
(11) She Sparkles
(5) Flying Yank

Suggested Bet – No bet, not a hugely appealing betting race.

Race 6

(4) Falaise looks as if he is hitting this race at the right point of his prep. 3rd up today, he has a super record 3rd up into preps (3:2-0-0) and is rising up to the 1600m today having produced the 2nd fastest L400m of the meeting in his last run at Penola. That race rated well so this set up looks suitable.(2) Shiny Rock can be an improver 2nd up now, he can race prominently and should be better suited at the 1600m trip, gets in well at the weights. (11) Balistique won well two starts back but disappointed last time when well in the market. She needs to find improvement but has the scope and talent to do so. (9) On The Map broke through for a maiden victory last strat in good fashion. She could progress now with some confidence.

Selections:
(4) Falaise
(2) Shiny Rock
(11) Balistique
(9) On The Map

Suggested Bet – Falaise (Win)

Race 7

(2) Mapleway was solid last start when finishing 2nd in a similar level race. He got caught up in front on a fast tempo and was overrun in the straight. If he can get a softer run in the early stages of this race he should be hard to hold out. (3) Flambard looks likely to get an ideal run from an inside barrier, two starts back he ran into the placings in a similar race before stepping up in trip, appears better suited back to the 1400m. (8) Snipers Nightmare looks the leader of the race, so can pinch it with some soft sectionals and he should be much better suited back to the 1400m distance. (6) Fleurieu Flipper has a good record over this track/distance set up so may be best suited if the race is run at a quick speed and it sets him up to swoop over the top late.

Selections:
(2) Mapleway
(3) Flambard
(8) Snipers Nightmare
(6) Fleurieu Flipper

Suggested Bet – Mapleway (Win)
