Horses to follow – Morphettville, Saturday December 6

TORPEDOES (R4 1250m Maiden)

TORPEDOES made his debut here for the Michael Hickmott stable, coming in off the back of some strong trial form, he was well supported to win and in the straight did look every chance to get the win but feel fitness and experience told late. They have gone along very fast here for the class and he has faded out in the straight, feel there is more merit in his run and keen to follow next start given he has had that experience now and should be better for it.

OUT OF SQUARE (R6 1000m BM68)

OUT OF SQUARE was the clear class runner of this race but it’s the manner in which she won that is what impressed. Resuming here over a 1000m, it was likely she would be an improver over more ground but had no issues here today reeling off the fastest L600m of the entire meeting and winning with ease. Her 2nd up form is good and rising in trip will likely suit, she was only first-up here so expect to see a few runs out of her and potentially over in Victoria now the Jolly team have their Flemington base.

Balaklava trials, Thursday December 4

Trial #2 – CASH

Lightly raced runner CASH had his first official hit out prior to a race return. Clearly talented, we have seen him win twice from three starts including a win at Moonee Valley on debut. He coasted up to the lead early in the race with another runner, but once in the straight Todd Pannell has asked a little of him and he strongly extended out to win this jump-out easily, to the eye he looks set for a strong return soon.
