Hot favourite Autumn Glow will have to defy the outside gate if she’s to land her first Group 1 in Saturday’s $1.5 million Epsom Handicap at Randwick.
A field of 14 has been confirmed for the famous Randwick mile. Hall of Fame trainer Chris Waller, a five-time Epsom winner, saddles Autumn Glow and Lord Penman, with Autumn Glow drawn widest in barrier 14.
Gai Waterhouse, chasing her eighth Epsom winner, will be represented by Fully Lit with co-trainer Adrian Bott still searching for his first success in the race, who drew barrier 8.
Last year’s winner Ceolwulf returns as topweight with 58kg will start from barrier 9, while Tramway Stakes winner Pericles carries 57kg and drew barrier 5.
The Epsom is one of three Group 1s on Randwick’s Super Saturday, alongside the Flight Stakes and The Metropolitan.
