Race 4 – 3:00PM Tobin Brothers Funerals Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)
Handy maiden.
#10 CATWALK ICON has trialled up very nicely, both on turf and synthetic. She showed good ability last campaign, at times without luck in running. She has been putting herself right on speed in her jump-outs and suspect from gate two Harry Coffey will bounce and put her on speed. 1200m looks ideal first up. She’s favourite, but think she should be closer to even money.
The main danger looks #3 JOIN THE QUE. He, too, didn’t race with much luck in his first campaign, but the talent is clearly there. Couldn’t have jumped-out much better leading into this preparation – $8 seems well over the odds.
#1 BLUE LIGHT DISCO is the other key winning hope. Was seven-week between runs at Pakenham last time so maybe need to be a little forgiving of him compounding the last 100m. Should strip fitter, has an in-form jockey, but think he’s a touch under the odds.
Suggested bet:
Like the race, dutching (backing both to win the same) #3 JOIN THE QUE and #10 CATWALK ICON.
