Turf Talk:
- Best start on the track is the 1350m which has a long run down the back straight before they start turning.
- On a firm deck, expecting horses on speed to be hard to run down.
Race 1
Grand Millesime is the horse to beat in a moderate affair. She was good on debut when she and Castellito cleared out from their rivals at Kyneton. She then got too keen in a slowly run race at Mornington but was strong through the line. Blinkers go on here and up to the 1350m I expect them to work forward and lead or sit outside the leader in a race that lacks pressure. Third up now she is ready to win and I can get her shorter than the 2.35 on offer.
Suggested bet: Backing Grand Millesime.
Race 2
Adamana is a mare I have always had time for and she can knock off her maiden here. Her first up and second up runs last campaign were both performances that would see her beating this field. Drawn to get a lovely run with Declan Bates in the saddle. The little concern is she started jumping out in early September and now resumes in mid November, so I expect there might have been a small setback, but her latest Horsham jump out was very good.
The danger is Jotopeli who gets the blinkers on and drops back 250m in distance, but he has had his chance in equally moderate maidens at his past couple and simply could not get the job done. Suspect they will roll forward and control the race with the shades on today.
If Adamana is right then she is an odds on chance here.
Suggested bet: Backing Adamana.
Race 7
Maybe Chairman leads, Tyndrum Gold and Maximilian Caeser handy, although the latter is first up with the blinkers off. Thunder Point thereabouts.
Mister Businessman has been flying his last two campaigns since being restricted to middle distance trips. He was very good in a strong race at Geelong last time out and strikes a much weaker race here. The knock is he will get back, but given an even deck he should be very hard to hold out late.
Tyndrum Gold is over the odds. He had little luck at Wycheproof last time out and with a more positive ride early can run a big race at 20/1 plus.
Male Model can certainly win but he does so much wrong in his races. Chairman will give a sight on speed.
Suggested bet: Backing Mister Businessman and Tyndrum Gold.
