The Plan of Attack
| Race | Horse | Summary |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Points For Effort / Renege | Both can press forward at odds; forgive last run, better on firmer track. |
| 3 | Talent Scout | Strong jump-outs, Meech on, limited maiden and maps well to lead. |
| 4 | Wayed In Light | Should have won last start; maps better from gate one and hard to beat. |
| 6 | Factually / Bronco Revolution | Factually has the form edge; Bronco Revolution the danger off unlucky run. |
Turf Talk
- Firming track, rail true, doubt it will be a disadvantage to be on speed.
- Echuca has a good sprint chute for the 1000m and 1200m starts — horses have just the home bend to navigate.
Race 1 – No.10 Points For Effort & No.15 Renege
(10) Points For Effort has been overlooked by the market. Jumped out nicely between runs and ran well at Seymour when I didn’t think he was 100% on heavy going. Firmer deck a plus. (15) Renege is jumping the gates well this preparation. He’s been a frustrating horse, but had a few genuine excuses in many of those races. Forgive (3) Unsnoozual for the synthetic miss — gate one gives him a soft trip and he’s the danger.
Backing (10) Points For Effort and (15) Renege at odds. Quinella 3,10,15.
Race 3 – No.8 Talent Scout
(8) Talent Scout is on debut for Linda Meech after showing good ability in jump-outs, including a win at Ararat. Leaves the gates well and can take up a forward spot on debut. This is a limited maiden and 1300m looks ideal. (1) Born Survivor was sound late at Tatura and should improve up in trip; danger with a cleaner run.
(8) Talent Scout. Quinella 1 and 8. Trifecta 1,8-1,8-5,6,9.
Race 4 – No.14 Wayed In Light
(14) Wayed In Light was totally luckless when beaten at Mildura last start – got back, held up, then charged late. Debut at Sale was also strong. From gate one expect Riordan to be more positive early, which can make her very hard to beat.
Keen on (14) Wayed In Light @ $3. Just needs even luck. Think this is the best bet in Victoria today.
Race 6 – No.7 Factually & No.11 Bronco Revolution
(7) Factually has this field covered on exposed form if she runs to her best. Ignore her unlucky first-up run last prep. Jump-outs have been solid and she’ll roll forward. The query is bandages on her front legs, though she wore them in her last jump-out. (11) Bronco Revolution is the danger after no luck last start at Tatura. Wide draw not too much of an issue as he’d drift back anyway, speed in the race helps him finish off.
Backing (7) Factually and (11) Bronco Revolution.
