Turf Talk
- Used to drier decks and now we strike a Heavy 10 at the ‘Bool.
- If the rating is right, expect it to chop out. Look for fit horses that handle the going.
Race 3
Danzsin is the horse to beat, but looks short enough at $1.60. Think Star Of Omaha is over the odds and a good each-way bet at $15. She showed ability in trials prior to her debut at Hamilton. She got too far back there on debut but worked strongly to, and through, the line. Her last 200m was the 4th best last 200m of the meeting. The step to 1400m is ideal and it’s a big plus that Nugent jumps in the saddle.
Suggested Bet – Star Of Omaha E/W
Race 4
Think this is the standout bet of the day. Queen Christine trialled super prior to her debut in a strong race at Ballarat. They rode her conservatively first-up from a wide draw but expect her to be further forward today. Trials and jump-outs aren’t a perfect guide to wet track ability, but she seemed to handle it fine in lead-up work. Stepping to 1200m is ideal and she gets in form Teo Nugent. $2.25 looks over the odds. I think she starts in the red.
Suggested Bet – Queen Christine WIN
