Turf Talk:
- Generally no disadvantage to be on speed at Wodonga, but it has played pretty well in recent meetings.
- Tighter track with a short home straight.
- Good 4 with fine weather forecast – expect it to get an upgrade at some point.
Race 1
Concede God Only Knows has trialled very well and is going to be hard to beat on debut, but not much meat on the bone at $1.90.
Brenlyn’s Legacy can give this race an almighty shake. He was very good behind Impending War this track over 1100m on debut back in May and that is a race that has produced reasonable subsequent form. Loved a recent trial at Albury where he went to the line with Bohemian Rhapsody, who ran well at Flemington during the Cup Carnival. He will likely come across and sit outside the favourite and with some race experience on his side could prove most difficult to shake off.
Suggested bet: $6 about Brenlyn’s Legacy appeals.
Race 2
Very Torquee deserves to be a commanding favourite. Ran third in a strong race on debut at Wangaratta. The barrier cost him settling handier this track and trip last time out, when narrowly missing behind Shyamalan. Best last 200m split of the meeting there. Draws ideally today and Lachlan King knows the horse well, which is important as he can lay in a touch.
Suggested bet: Keen on Very Torquee, can see him starting odds on.
