Turf Talk:
- A track where being on speed is absolutely no disadvantage
- If you like a leader, bet with confidence.
- Good 4, fine weather, track should only firm up.
Race 1
Durham Legacy should bounce straight to the front here and win. Only problem is he’s well found at $1.55 and I’d need better to back here.
Looking for the quinella horse, Renege should be able to use the inside alley to race on speed and should be in the finish.
Race 6
Tyndrum Gold trialled well before the Jerilderie Cup, where he got back and just found 1400m too short. The step to 1800m is ideal and he’s going to sit leader’s back (Paltinian) from one. The best of his Qld ratings have him awfully hard to beat here – he looks over the odds at $7.
Can easily see why Kokoro is the horse to beat. He was very good behind Federer three back at Flemington and this is a big drop in grade from what he has been tackling of late. He can be more forward here – a deserving favourite.
Suggested bet: 1×3 EW Tyndrum Gold or back Tyndrum Gold/save Kokoro.
Race 7
Keen to back two of them here: Island Rock and Sandrine.
Interested in Island Rock. He trialled brilliantly before heading to an unsuitable 1200m trip first up at Deniliquin. He drops back to a more suitable 1050m here and the blinkers go on. Think he can push forward and be in this a long way.
Sandrine looks the horse to beat. He goes well fresh and is a terrific gate horse. He is a query at the end of 1050m but has a good jockey up in Liam Riordan, who should have plenty of confidence come race seven with a strong book of rides across the card.
Suggested bet: Backing Island Rock at $13 for the bigger result, also backing Sandrine.
