Race Horse Summary
R8 (1) Warby Best horse in the race and just has to land in front of 3-4 here.
R10 (4) He’s Heaven In great form and rolls forward again.

Turf Talk:

  • Rail 2m. Good rail placement.
  • Feel this track will play quite well but maybe a little to the front later in the day.

Stats that matter:

  • The Munce stable are now nearing 30% strike rate from their last 50 runners and close to 50% ROI.
  • Tony Gollan has turned the corner – 6 of his last 20 to victory as of midweek and trending upward.

Race by race overview

Race 1

1050m around Doomben and seven of them on debut. Could get messy early here.

Can’t go past (3) Lady Of Five. She was a dominant winner on debut and had trialled like a bomb before that. Likely leader again and Doomben should suit her even better than EF.

(4) I Am That Girl is a very well bred one for Gollan. Led in recent trial and just nosed out late with a big gap to the 3rd horse. Looks to have good ability. (8) Remembrall chased a tearaway leader and made good ground under minimal pressure. Was a good trial and Thompson on top is a big positive.

Selections:
(3) Lady Of Five
(8) Remembrall
(4) I Am That Girl
(5) Magritte

Suggested Bet: Trifecta 3 // 4,8 // 4,8

Race 2

Lots of different formlines and bloody hard to work this one out. Good speed engaged and looking for a map horse with cover just behind that speed.

Gone with Lang instead of a claim, so maybe not the handlebars down tactics on (13) Synergy In Motion this time around? Went 3.5L quicker than benchmark average last start and paddled the last 100m. I like the tactics and back to 1200m I’d be riding the same.

(3) The Enchanter was a good on-speed winner last start. Might be able to get in the slipstream this time and get a free tow into it. (4) Encubierto came from off the speed to win an easier race at the sunny coast. Up to 1200m suits but might get buried midfield and need luck.

(5) First Mission will be better placed up here in Qld. Form down south not bad and joins a good stable who can land a plunge if they back this bloke first up.

Selections:
(13) Synergy In Motion
(3) The Enchanter
(5) First Mission
(4) Encubierto

Suggested Bet: Win (13) Synergy In Motion

Race 3

(3) Royal Mover is 2/2 and Gollan seems to have a rap on it. Settled well last start, cruised up and put them away. Everything says 1200m suits better and gets a good run again here.

(8) Making News is Gollan and was a maiden winner last start. Draws gate 1 for Thompson and lands on the speed to get every possible chance.

(1) Ha’penny Hatch is consistent but a bit of a non-winner. (7) Little Fella was a very good debut winner in the bush and has more wins in store. This is a lot harder though.

Selections:
(3) Royal Mover
(1) Ha’penny Hatch
(7) Little Fella

(8) Making News

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 4

Very competitive race this one. Even tempo at best with 3-4 of them finding their spots on speed easy enough.

I was on (1) Imposant as a best bet last start and it looked the winner. That was until (4) Freeland let rip out wide and was going 2 to their 1. She was amazing that day and I can’t get that win out of my mind. The stable are striking near 30% and almost an unbelievable run. Meets Imposant worse at the weights but they have to improve to beat her.

(9) Little Jeanie is the early fav. Maps well and has 52kg. Bit to like but don’t think she’s that classy. (2) Scud brings the different formline and is an underrated horse.

Selections:
(4) Freeland
(1) Imposant
(2) Scud

(9) Little Jeanie

Suggested Bet: E/W (4) Freeland

Race 5

Leader is (7) Free Carry and gets it his own way up front.

Blinkers go on (7) Free Carry and drops 5kg down to 52.5kg. Looks outclassed but with an easy lead and no weight I dare say they will try to take off early and make the others carry their weight chasing.

(1) Caboche is a good horse and rock hard fit off the 2nd placing in The Toowoomba Cup 2000m. Back to a mile is OK and they should try to land in the first 3 settling here.

Can’t knock (4) Victory Win. Had a job to do from the back last start and was excellent winning. Comes here 3rd up and expecting an even better run. Just can’t spot them too big of a start.

(2) Galifianakis never runs a bad race. Good effort again last start and a must for exotics.

Selections:
(1) Caboche
(4) Victory Win
(7) Free Carry
(2) Galifianakis

Suggested Bet: Win (1) Caboche and save on (4) Victory Win

Race 6

As open as Sydney Heads this.

I’ve been disappointed with the first two runs back of (8) Indy Rose Warrior. Needed the run fresh and just a pass mark last start but through the line was her best work. Ready to improve now and actually feel she might like this track.

(10) Mannerheim has always looked a little limited but might just have matured and become a better horse this prep. Came the widest and a good style of a win last start. Thompson rides for Waller.

(6) Kaluakoi is an on-speed and consistent type. If the track is playing to the front you can promote it. (3) Cavalry Man has been consistent for the new stable but had many chances to win and couldn’t. Won last week, can he win twice in seven days?

Selections:
(8) Indy Rose Warrior
(10) Mannerheim
(3) Cavalry Man
(6) Kaluakoi

Suggested Bet: 1×2 (8) Indy Rose Warrior

Race 7

Good speed but this is an absolute lottery.

(6) Colophon had first Qld run at the GC and won a BM68 by 4.3L with 61kg. Drops 6kg here in a much harder race but have to respect. (4) Bold Comic well held last start by a good one but was runner up. Peaks here 3rd run back from a break. (2) Lost His Beans has had 284 days off but a couple of trials to get fit. Has won 5 of 8 and always respect a ‘winner’. (8) Shot Of Whiskey can be on speed for a long way but can be soft eh last 50m

Selections:
(6) Colophon
(2) Lost His Beans
(4) Bold Comic

(8) Shot Of Whiskey

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 8

Not much speed here, Surfers Royale likely leads from Treporti with no pressure.

That is a bit of an issue for (1) Warby but he has a touch of class on most of these. Won or placed in 4 of 5 at Doomben and gate 7 means he should land in front of 2 or 3 in the run at least. If Maloney can time the run or get a tow into the race this bloke can run over them late.

(5) Anemacore has a great fresh record (3:1:2:0). Plan was to run last week at EF where he has a better record but can still be good late. (8) Heman very good win last start but not one I often catch.

I can sit here and make a case for another half dozen of these but the fact is I want to back Warby and there’s nothing between the other half dozen. Luck will be what splits them.

Selections:
(1) Warby
(8) Heman
(5) Anemacore
(6) The Little Pumper

Suggested Bet: Win bet (1) Warby

Race 9

11 of the 22 accepted were last start winners. Big field from a tricky starting point and think that has to lead to a decent tempo here.

(4) Express Payment is one with enough speed to go find a spot in the first few pairs settling. Bayliss gets along with this horse well and liked the fight the first two runs back this prep. Might even peak for this.

(10) Chamierro is in career best form and has won 4 of 10. Form at EF is better than Doomben but have to respect the form he is in (along with jock and stable form). Big fan of (1) Keitel but the inside gate is actually a concern for it. Will need a lot of luck but do like the apprentice on top. (15) Ocean Zar is another who’d rather get to the outside in the straight but will have to try and sit closer from the inside gate.

A stack of other chances and wide as you like in the quaddie.

Selections:
(4) Express Payment
(10) Chamierro
(1) Keitel
(15) Ocean Zar

Suggested Bet: No bet

Race 10

Good race and decent speed. Expect (4) He’s Heaven to lead with the light weight.

Have always liked (4) He’s Heaven and thought the last start win was arrogant. Was just let cruise and stole a few lengths before the corner and won by 3.3L. Drops 4.5kg to 52.5kg and will take some catching. Like the $10 opening.

(5) Navyonthehighway bounced back to form last start and she was excellent a couple of preps ago. She is tactically versatile and if she can improve off that run she looks a deserved fave here.

(1) Oughton is a very good one on his day. Needed racing last time in work so just watch what the market says about him as it will be a guide on his fitness.

Selections:
(4) He’s Heaven
(5) Navyonthehighway
(1) Oughton
(15) Our Magnus

Suggested Bet: Win bet (4) He’s Heaven
