Turf Talk:
- Rail 11m – long way out but it’s a big wide straight and any rain can even it up.

- Rob Heathcote has snuck up and is having a run at the moment – striking at 24% his last 50 runners with +58% ROI. Strong team engaged too.
- Matt Dunn is the other trainer in form with 12 winners from his last 50 runners and decent runners here and at Randwick today.
Race 1
12 scratching’s my goodness.
They backed (10) Lady Milan for a stack on debut. She had no luck and was a moral beaten. Dare say they try to get it back here and feel they most likely do. Should have a good future and in the leading stable. Loved the effort of (14) Extreme Taste in the same race and was strong through the line. Can be hard to beat in this one again.
(13) Ratenotice joins the new yard and has trialled well up here. Bumps into a couple of handy ones but can land in the money.

Race 2
Small but competitive race.
Not much went right for (3) Paleface Ringo fresh and the run was better than it reads on paper. Has won 2/2 second up and should get a better run in transit this time around.
(5) Thee Creek is a better than average colt and was pushed out in a trial to win but it looked good. Might be better over further but can sprint well fresh.
Can’t knock (6) Cabaletto who has won 3 of 4. Munce stable has been good this season and this will be right on speed again. Harder than last time but not brave enough to say she can’t win.
Gollan has (9) Balance The Books and I think she is a good filly in the making. Won on debut and tipped straight out. Best last 400m and 200m of the meeting on debut. Trial was very good and upside galore in her. Maiden to BM68 in town isn’t easy but she might well be good enough.

Race 3
The run of (3) Cutepi was better than it looks last start. Slow out and spotted them a start over 1100m at the coast. Best L200m of the race and has returned in good form all prep. No idea what to do with (5) Heesen – ran last returning this prep and mixed form last prep including a 5L win to break maiden status. Just see what the market does. (6) Ivy Dexstress is similar – has ability but mixes form too much (although Gollan seems keen).
(7) Hurricane Lu is 2/2 and best late splits in them both. Love the fact she flattens out and hits the line. Like her as a horse.
(1) Poster Girl has shown more class and gone around in better races.

Race 4
This comes down to track conditions. If it is a soft track or worse, (1) Pareto comes right into it. Way better on soft than firm. Like the apprentice on board and he’s a good 3kg claim. More than up to these if conditions suit.
(8) Simply Excels, (3) Thankyou Henry and (2) Show Me Mercy all have ability but feel they’ve peaked and are more on the downslope now.
Plain race this.

Race 5
Pretty plain CL6 to be honest.
(6) Lonhro’s Queen is new to Qld and joined the Munce yard during her break. Pushed in a recent trial but did like what we saw there. Has won 2 of 3 fresh and expect her to be strong late.
(9) Vegas Raider is limited but had two starts for the new stable and liked the way it fought though well held last start. Place chance again.
Nice win from (1) Bonded Affair last start and this is about the right grade. Not a great record at EF is a concern but has some class on most of these.

Race 6
Hard to be that confident with (1) Sir Lamorak as a 2-time winner from 29 starts. He will never get a better chance to add to the tally. Last two runs for Currie have been good and the same effort would win. Loses Thompson for apprentice but he’s the one.
(2) Ichiban could win on old form but he’s been plain and I’ve had a gutful.
Watch the market with Waller pair (10) Empire Of Art and (4) Legend Of Kings.

Race 7
(9) Kaffir Lily went around in a couple of G3 races last prep to show they had an opinion of her. Thought she might have needed the run last start but she proved too good. Only be better at this trip and a leading hope.
Always like a horse like (2) Big Ticket Boy who tries and always puts his head out. Two runs this prep have been within 1.4L of the winner and expecting improvement here 3rd up. Handles all conditions and has won at EF.
Not really a (3) Wowzino man but is a chance now the main chances have been scratched.

Race 8
Had to like the run of the lightly raced (12) Vovo. Got back but good late splits and fitter from that run. This has been the target since and will take some beating from the good gate.
(3) Irama has been solid lately and best last 200m of the race (this track/trip last time out).
(14) Livalittle is lightly raced for Gollan and too far back in a slow-run race last start. The big track will be better for him and expect him to be flashing late with any luck from the gate.
(6) Casrock is a consistent type but lacks upside.

Race 9
Extremely weak 3YO race.
(1) Brave Monarch was a nice winner last start but that was maiden grade. Is consistent, in a good stable and might have some upside. Has got back but attacked the line in both runs and good win last start. Stable flying, good jock and this trip should suit.
(5) Worthy Enuff is a frustration. I feel it might just be a wet tracker and could be the hardest to beat at odds if the rain comes.
Maybe (2) Meet George and (8) Carbonara are next best but they are just a limited bunch.

Race 10
Gollan with a massive hand in this and nearly half the field.
(3) Midnight Spirit was in good races last prep and did like the recent trial. Feel it will be an improver and stronger this prep. Don’t love the gate – over to you Maloney.
The toppy (1) Torque To Be Sure is well above average and has trialled well multiple times leading into this. Might get back but has a good turn of foot and winning chance for sure.
(10) Spirit Of Barty was just a maiden winner last start but was held up before bursting through to win easily. Has a lot of upside and Gollan will get the best out of her.

Race 11
Well, 1000m is not the go for (1) Cifrado but he’s so much better than this lot on his day he’d still win. Had a couple of runs back, just pass marks, but they have to come out positive and try to land in front of 4–5 here. If he trucks into it, he can run over them.
(9) Holy Racket is a genuine 1000m horse who can be on speed and has 52kg. If they don’t go too hard it will be very hard to run down for a stable going well.
(6) Hurts So Good likes this trip but needs the speed on. Has won 4 of 6 at this track and that is the key stat, as many don’t appreciate it.
It’s them or throw a dart.
