Race by race overview
This meeting has been ruined by scratching’s (not sure why) but once they have come out, some of the races have nothing to talk about and have become very weak. Really disappointing for the meeting.
Race 1:
I was highly disappointed with a couple of these and their last efforts.
(9) British Gem looked to have been placed perfectly by the Lees stable at the GC. Seemingly no excuse for a plain effort and hard to have off that.
(8) Uniquely Famous for Waller was good on debut, looked to find a winnable race next time out and flopped. Not a great sign he was $7 out to $12 either. What do you do here?
Even (1) Artistic Endeavour was good last start but he is far from consistent. Not bad through the line, fitter 3rd up and maybe this trip is what he is after. Gets chance to break through here for sure.
(5) Nottington Prince had been good at this Maiden grade before jumping sharply in class and getting lapped. Back to Maiden helps.

Race 2:
Lockwood-Vincent stable have won 6 from the last 9 they have saddled up.
(6) Miss Personality only had the one run last prep for a dominant win. Great overall record (6:3:0:1) and can build on that in a winnable race here.
(5) Super Zamboni was a winner at Kilcoy two back and good again at Sunny Coast last start. Got a great run in transit, looked the winner but just outgunned.
(2) Shows A Sign and (1) Enuff Pills look the place getters here but leaning to the first two mentioned as winning hopes.

Race 3:
One of the better races of the day here.
Fave punters have had enough of (1) Atmosphere. Extremely talented on his day but has been beaten at $1.65 and $2.15 his last two starts. Has the class to win but who trusts him?
(2) Swiss Exile has also shown very good ability in the past but has won just 2 of 34. Well beaten in Listed races this prep and will appreciate this drop in class.
(7) Don Pedro lacks a bit of class but his last two have been nice and solid. 2nd best L200m of the race last start and drops 6kg from that effort.

Race 4:
The run of (7) Mississippi Dream two back was very good. Was a long way off them and just kept grinding and just missed on the line. Similar effort here again last start but just not as strong the last 50m. Well placed.
Look I initially gave three horses a chance. Two of those scratched and I don’t think I can find positives to talk about here. (3) Sexy Time is Gollan and kicks off 2nd prep which is good. But didn’t really like the trial. (5) Amazara can improve off the debut run but looked very one paced.
After the scratching’s I could have a small play (7).

Race 5:
Some trust issues between myself and most of these.
(2) Demarcay is ex-Waller, a limited type but has been around the money although well held lately. This is about his level and can be around the money again for sure.
(3) Tewkesbury got out to 3200m two runs back but a few weeks between runs this time. Only two wins from 31 is always a concern.
(4) Enterprise Private was a big winner (4.5L) two runs back and then solid in defeat last time out at Grafton. Liked both those efforts, Mallyon in form and this is a decent target for this horse.
Never really been with (9) Deep Dawn but the latest win on this track was very good. Had the ears pricked and did it easy the last 100m. Up to this trip is a little query but have to respect that win.

Race 6:
Not easy to find positives here but (1) Coincide has been good at both runs on this course and no luck here last time out. Should have gone close and feel this is a similar race. Should get its chance.
Gee this drops away quickly.
(6) Alfa Lily can throw up a good one every now and then but has only won 4 of 39. Freshened up, month between runs and one for exotics.
(9) Revitup Charlie might be next best but for me it’s back the topweight or let the race go completely.

Race 7:
Another race where 3 of 5 winning hopes scratched and has nearly ruined the race.
(14) Pele Princess was pretty good in a much better race two ago in town, that form is great. Not all the luck last time out but still very good here. Looks the hardest to beat,
Surely I have to give up on (12) Autumngirl? Well bred and I thought could be very good. Has been near hopeless this prep but if she did something I wouldn’t be surprised. Could consider (10) Artspace for exotics but this dropped away very quickly after the scratchings. Disappointing.

Race 8:
Not a great race to finish but I liked what (1) Dark Arts did at first start with the Gollan stable. Travelled well at the Sunny Coast and looked as though he’d win at the 100m. Fitter for that and this doesn’t look any harder.
(15) Cansort won a low Maiden at Ballina on debut but is Waller and has upside. Like the fact it will be on speed and gets his chance.
Couple more keey scratching’s have weakened this as well. Theme of the day unfortunately.
